Sorry about that. I thought i was on it, yet I was still on CTR's. Yet, I had an interesting ride into the ATL area.
The air was choppy the whole way there. I was expecting the worst in Atlanta, yet it was.
I caught a microburst arriving into ATL it seemed. I was being vectored for the ILS 27L. All systems normal, of course, but suddenly my nose shoots down. Winds were just at the crosswind point at near Gusting 26 or 27 knots. With turbulence, your speed is inconstant (that a word? lol). It kept jumping from 170 to 230kts and it was bad!. I was trying to keep my fastest approach speed so I can get to the airport ASAP! Approach came on, but I stayed with Center due to the weather and I was near intercepting localiser.
I thought the AP/FMC would take it from here, but it had trouble grabbing the localiser. I realised my course heading was off and it wouldn't catch the localiser as I got off of it! So I flew it by hand, with a slight crosswind. I landed with the left main gear, then the right, then the nose. Yet on the numbers!
You can perform your best landings in the crappiest weather! Ripleys Believe it....or not!
