I try and fly online when I can.. but more recently I keep running into situations where it is impossible for my to fly on vatsim (i'll be away from the computer durring the middle of the flight or I'm on call for work).. Anyways, I keep seeing all of everyones screenshots with some great traffic going!! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a starting point or how to go about doing this. Also, does it really hit up the frame rates really bad??
Another question I have, when I do ATC via the built in on FS2004, its always choppy?? It worked fine on my previous computer, but scince the upgrade its always like this. Any ideas??
Trying to maximize the realism!! Thanks guys...

A great way to spice up the AI traffic is to download the traffic packs found at www.projectai.com. As for your FS ATC, no idea why it would be messed up.

Thanks. I had visited there a looong time ago, seemed like a nice way of going. Unftunatly it seems as though they let their domain name expire and do not appear to be online anymore At least scince I've started trying a few mins ago..

the downloaded packs i downloaded were very difficult for me to set up so if like me you don't know a lot about programing you should buy a program like "just fligth traffic 2004" that's the one i bougth and it went very well for me it comes with like 50 or more different liveries

Well, I was actually able to get to the site today, so they were probably just down. Anyways, the packages installed just fine. I wound up installing every major US airline and a few foreign ones. The only problem is now, there is too much traffic!! Well you can never get too much, the only downside is that it slows your framerates a little bit. I have the traffic rate set at 100%, does anyone know a good percentage that gives you the best bang for the framerate??

Jon,
Totally depends on your system. Start at about 60% at the busiest airport you can find, depending on what packages you have installed. Then, work your way up until you have got a good frame rate. Once you have a good frame rate at the busy airports, you'll get one everywhere else.

yup.. the site is up again.. i actually installed ALL [and yes.. when i say all.. i really do mean ALL OF THEM] like 3 weeks ago.. took a whole day.. anyways.. the only bad thing about them is that the planes dont have night lightning.. i mean they do have strobes and nav lights.. but when they are parked at night.. they are just 'lightless' so you cant see them really.. so it takes the fun of arriving at night..
but it is a great things. planes and plans togeather..

You got your UT already Steve? I told you it dont take long to come in.The thing i like about it too is the airlines have their assigned gates and not scattered all around the terminals like the freeware ai aircraft like pai and the others used to be, Believe me, I have downloaded many of those ai packages and spent more time installing, compiling and trying to manage the things than they were worth. They are good to play with if you have time and like all that but now that I have UT all I do is click the search for updates button and I get any new aircraft ,airline ,airport etc. just like that. And that leaves more time for me to fly or do other things.

OHH MY Dan. I used to have so many problems with all those TTools Flightplans, aircraft and airports. If one comma is out of place or something isn't in the right place you get those darn compiling errors that made me pull my hair out. Like it may say there is no B747 paint 2 in the list when you know it is but it somehow isnt catching it. And it wont compile any father down the list until you fix that one error. I just had to pay a few dollars for something simpler and UT took all those compiling, recompiling and hunting for new flight plans ,ai aircraft and airports blues away.
