There has been a great deal of discussion in the past few days about Delta and Continental and showing the flag on VATSIM. Some of this appears to have caused some consternation among both DVA and VCA members. I like to think that most of it is an unfortunate by-product of the lack of context in our medium, but either way I feel I need to say a few words.
I, like all of you, wish nothing but the best to VCA and their community. They are fine folks and it's ironic and sad to me that we have this discussion about Virtual Continental since until recently I have considered our relationship to be the best compared to other virtual airlines such as AVA and UVA. As well, I do believe that there is a friendly rivalry afoot, but we need to be especially careful that everyone knows that it is friendly and what our core intentions are.
In recent days, some members of the DVA and VCA communities have missed this core underpinning of our relationship, and I do not wish to see things deteriorate further. I have been unfortunately preoccupied with family matters this long weekend, as has Terry, and we have been unable to ensure that this conversation has stayed friendly and positive. Therefore, I'm going to encourage all of you to leave the matter alone this evening while I'm away and I can get home again and sort through everything.
Some time to ponder the real meaning of our relationship would do us all some good.
Cheers!
