FSUIPC doesnt work wit the new version. I also cant get into my game. This is quite odd. I almost done want to reload it and everything because I will be getting 2 new SATA hard drives on Monday or Tuesday and I have to redo everything anyway. Soooo... If anyone knows of a quick fix, which I doubt it because it's so new, let know.

From simflight.vatsim-usa:
I just grabbed this, and am throwing it on tonight.
Everyone, PLEASE RTFM on this. If you have the no-cd hack,
replace it with the original fs9.exe that came during the installation,
or you could cripple the update let alone your FS9 install. I am not
sure if this lets you run FS9 without the CD, but until we know for
sure, I'd play is safe. Having the latest FSUIPC doesn't help either (M$
plugs Pete Dowson's work! Nice!!!).

Downloaded the MS9.1, tried to boot the sim up and got an error message, "outdated FSUIPC" I went and downloaded the most current (?) FSUIPC 3.40 (rel. 10-01-04) version, Went back into my MSFS file folder, removed my prior (reg) version of FSUIP, installed the latest version, then booted MS9.1 back up and all was well. Just thought I'd post this in case others experience the same error message.
As a side note, Peter Dawson suggests completely removing your older FSUIPC version prior to installing the 3.40 version. Apparently MSFS 2002/04 can be somewhat difficult and if it sees other DLL files will load them too, possibly causing conflicts. I cut my old FSUIPC files and stored them in a seperate folder, outside of MSFS files (just in case).
Now to test out the FS9.1 and see if the upgrades are noticable.

Im am flying at night right now, and some things i notice include:
1. The sky at night isnt as dark as it used to be, its more like a dark blue, instead of black
2. The whole night-flying experience is slightly brighter, the ground is slightly brighter, your airplane is slightly brighter, etc.
Thats about it so far...my framerates have improved, though, too.

i dont have the update, let alone the game, but how come they didnt come up w/ an update for 2002, was it that "good" that they didnt need to update it? I can think of a few things that need updating but thats another story.
BTW: Has anyone noticed that night on FS2002 is almost like not so night. I understand when flying over cities w/ the light pollution, but how bout when ur flyin over the atlantic, the sky looks a little too blue. Is there a way to change that cause i know that there is a way of changin the blueness of the sky during the day.

Hey,
I for one havent had enought night experience, but I have known a few instructors to that say night flying shouldnt be considered night flying at times. Of course, this wouldn't be all the time. There would be times when you couldn't see a bloody thing. There is a place here west of SLC called Wendover. It's on the Utah>Nevada border where most the Utahns go gambling. If you fly to wendover, they call the West Desert the black hole. At my school, have to have an instrument rating to fly there at night. A lot of pilot will go out there and get the leans because of a lack of visual reference. They get in what is called a graveyard spiral. Anyway. Night time flying is one the that we just dont see modeled very well with flight sim. I think its alright. It doesnt bother me too much. I figure with USA roads its about as real as I can get.

Rob, Adjust the sreen brightness control on your monitor. That usually works for me. About the update, I may as well not installed it because I have problems with the Aircraft going into pushback mode when it shows up at the end of the runway just after starting and I started at ATL and noticed that I can communicate with ATC and ATC with me but I hear no other communication with ATC and the other A/C. The A/C does not taxi out or move at all. I went back and pushed the Traffic slider to %100 and waited for anyone to pushback or move and it's like ATL has been evacuated. I do see a few A/C flying around and one flight came into ATL but all the ones already at the gates or their parking areas don't move. I am using UT maybe I have to reinstall it. I do have the latest version of FSUIPC .

Chris, I went to Wendover in 89 when I went for some weapons training at Tooele Army Deot just outside of SLC. We went to a firing range out there in Wendover out in the middle of nowhere. It was just desert. My armament unit went out there to watch some M-110 Self-Propelled Howitzer's fire and it was one expirece. Those are nothing but huge Cannon's 203MM (8-inch) sitting on tracks and when they fired they brought dust up off the ground. We could even see the impacts a couple of minutes after they were fired and I ask a crewman how far away that was and he said about 15 miles. Ohh and we did stop at a cassino just on the NV border and that was the first time i ever played slots. I only played a few nickel slots (lol) but hey it was fun.

If any is having any problems. Refer to Tom Haugs earlier post. It outlines all the information;
*****************************************************************************************
Read this posting before installation. If you are using FSUIPC, YOU MUST HAVE FSUIPC 3.40 OR LATER.

Great News Flight Simmers! The 9.1 Patch for FS9 (Flight Simulator 2004) has this very second been released.
I have been waiting up this evening to post this, as there are some very important things that you need to know about this patch (outside of the outstanding updates included). They are:
I would suggest a backup if you have the capability to do so easily.
The Installer WILL NOT display the readme before you install. You will be given all the important information regarding beta findings before you download. So you must read them!
You MUST be running FSUIPC 3.40 or later if you are using that module from Pete Dowson.
If you are running ActiveCamera, you may run into CTD issues with version 1.x. The latest version is, I believe, available on the site now
Some install tests on my systems have been seen to look like they have stopped installing, when in fact they are working, but slowly. This happens on some machines, but not others. Walk away from your machine for a couple of hours and come back. Some other people have reported waiting a few hours for the install to complete.
If you decide to uninstall the update, using the FS9UpdateUninstall.exe you should note that this IS uninstalling when you see the command screen and it appears to be doing nothing. It has a lot of work to do. Again, go and have a cup of tea and come back later so you are not tempted to click the X
IF YOU HAVE THE NO-CD Patch, you MUST install the original FS9.EXE File for the patch to work.
If you have modified any of the original FS files THAT MICROSOFT MENTION in their readme, the installer will fail. The original files can be obtained from the original CD's if you need to copy them back in.
Those looking for the original gps_export.dll file, that dont want to muck around with getting it off the CD, can download it here
DO NOT copy back any old version of the FS9.EXE file. The FS9.EXE file had updates made to it that correct CTD issues.
The update is available on the FS9 Website. Enjoy it! It includes a lot of fixes and updates that the MS team have been working hard on for a long time to make your simming experience better.

Thats been posted already Mark, I have FSUIPC 3.40 and I also read the readme doc. before installing but it doesn't state which addon's it affects and you don't know until you install it. It's a chance you have to take if you want the update.

I have tested FS9.1 at a few different venues so far. Everything appears to be working as advertised. I am having a hard time depicting gains from the FS9.1 upgrade, but see general over-all improvement in most all aspects. What is confusing performance improvement considerations is a recent addition of an additional 1Gig. of memory to this system. Frame rates since the FS9.1 may have improve 3 to 5 fps. I have tasked the frame rate evaluation at larger, busy airports with plenty of activity. Night time colors seem more defined and realistic, with greater variance in color hues. Object detailing and rendering appear somewhat improved also. Because FS9 and 9.1 apparently look for and utilize any .Dll files they can find the possibility of conflict may exist with all of the various add-ons and their compatiability with FSUIPC 3.40. I am now trying to decide if it would be of value to purchase the license key for 3.40 for the additional enhancement tools. I purchased the prior licence key for my older version of FSUIPC, but each licence update is costly and I am not sure the cost is worth the gains yet. I think the greatest gain I have experienced here so far is greatly improved load times for applications. It will be interesting to hear how this FS9.1 upgrade plays out on the variety of different computer systems setups out there.

Daniel:
Like Chris said, I too have tons of add-on files, but with FSUIPC 3.40 have not observed any conflicts. I think the concern was/is, if you leave older versions of FSUIPC in the MSFS folder MS9.0 and 9.1 will try to load any .DLL files they can find. Also, it sounds like Peter Dawson's FSUIPC has become somewhat of a standard which even payware companies build on and around. I do not know if that could lead to earlier add-on files. So far, everything here is working as advertised with MS9.1 and FSUIPC 3.40. I am watching for feedback as others report their findings and opinions on this latest upgrade.

Whew! I thought I was going to have to reinstall UT after adding the update but I went back and all my AI traffic is working at ATL again and I'm not starting off at the end of the runway in pushback mode now. My frame rates at ATL with %100 traffic and most settings maxed out and dense to optimum I am getting good frame rates of high twenties to low thirties. The graphics are much richer than before and smoother as I watched traffic landing they actually looked very real with the strobes and lights flashing with no hesitation or skipping at all. I noticed when I pan using the hat switch the frame rates drop and I even get slight freezes until the graphics repaint again. Thats a problem I already had though and not sure what is causing it yet.

Did the upgrade but now FS9. Sometimes more then not FS9 just dissappears when I change planes. poof, gone. Gotta go start it up again. Not even a screen to submit an error report to MS. Anyone else have that prob? I did a total uninstall of both 9.1 and 9.0 and then reloaded all back again. Still same prob. and am using the current FSUIPC.

This is a shot in the dark, but....did you remove your older FSUIPC files before replacing them with the 3.40 files? I read where leaving them both could cause conflict with MSFS when loading .DLL files.

Yup, I removed the older version of FSUIPC brefore I loaded 3.40.
Doesn't happen to me on all aircraft. Don't have anything else nailed on this yet. Also I notice that after I quit FS9, after a successful flight, I get the error pop pop up to send a report to MS. Oh well, does'nt have me dead in the water. Just have to keep an eye and see what happens next.
