This is very annoying... every time I select POSKY's 747 for a flight or something, the nose of the plane will sink and cause a crash. So there's practially no way to use it. Has anybody suffered this same issue and could help me out? Thanks in advanced

Eugenio,
That's a problem with the contact points of the plane that will make the front gear to collapse. If you are going for the 744, I would recommend the MelJet 747-400, it's really good.
As for the contact point problem, the guys had a solution for it, but I don't remember the lines for the cfg editing.
Cheers!

Thanks for responding Gaston... I checked Meljet's 744 model and it is almost 2 years old!!! Are you sure that Meljet's model is better than POSKY's??
Anyways, does anyone else know where can I find this fix for posky's model?
Thanks guys

I haven't flown the 744 at all and it's been a while since I've taxied with it so I'm not sure if mine crashes or not. I know it has a slight bouncing problem, but I don't think it'll crash like my 741, 742, and 743s do. Open the aircraft.cfg file using notepad and scrolldown until you see
[contact_points]
//0 Class <0=none,1=wheel, 2=scrape, 3=float>
//1 Longitudinal Position (feet)
//2 Lateral Position (feet)
//3 Vertical Position (feet)
//4 Impact Damage Threshold (Feet Per Minute)
//5 Brake Map (0=None, 1=Left, 2=Right)
//6 Wheel Radius (feet)
//7 Steer Angle (degrees)
//8 Static Compression (feet) (0 if rigid)
//9 Max/Static Compression Ratio
//10 Damping Ratio (0=Undamped, 1=Critically Damped)
//11 Extension Time (seconds)
//12 Retraction Time (seconds)
//13 Sound Type
//14 Airspeed limit for retraction (KIAS)
//15 Airspeed that gear gets damage at (KIAS)
point.0 = 1.000, -30.333, 0.000, -13.803
The last line (I think) are the ones you will want to change. Change it to this:
point.0 = 1.000, -30.333, 0.000, -13.803
Hope that does it for ya!

It definitely looks like a contact point problem. The contact point is where the wheels touch the deck. The best way to fix this is by putting lights on the contact points. You have lines that look like this in the contact points section of the aircraft.cfg file:
point.0 = 1.000, -30.333, 0.000, -13.533,
point.1 = 1.000, -109.583, -18.000, -13.833,
point.2 = 1.000, -109.583, 18.000, -13.833,
With a bunch of numbers after those ones. Those are the important ones for what you're doing. We'll use the first line because that's the nose gear, which is where your problem is.
After the = here's what they mean:
1 is a contact (not a scrape) point
-30.333 is how far away from a reference point this is along the length of the plane
0.000 is how far left and right from center this point is
-13.533 how far down from this reference point.
Distances are in feet and the reference point is usually the center of gravity but Project Open Sky does some weird things w/their FDEs. It won't matter anyway.
Find the lights section of your aircraft.cfg file. You'll see a similar arrangement of numbers. I usually double space and start w/the next number. Put the next light number in place of the xx in the example:
light.xx=3, -30.333, 0.000, -13.533, fx_navwhih ,
You can do this w/all the contact points if you wish. Save the .cfg file and load the aircraft in FS. Turn on the lights and go into spot mode. You might have to put it in slew mode and push F3 to get the aircraft off the ground. Raise it until you can see the light that you put there. If you just cut/paste the line above, it will be a steady white light.
Since I don't know exactly where the POSKY reference point is, you'll have to play w/the first (longitudinal) number (in this case -30.333). Change the number until you have it directly under the strut for the nose gear. Once you've got that one fixed where you want it, take the third number (-13.533) and adjust it until the nose gear wheel sits firmly on the deck. Once that's done, you're finished. Erase your CP light line, save the aircraft.cfg file and you're good to go.
Some tips:
1. Unload all the fuel from the aircraft before you do this. Fuel on board messes w/the center of gravity.
2. You'll have to reload your a/c everytime you change something in the .cfg file. If you don't reload the a/c, your changes haven't been loaded. A quick way to reload the a/c is Alt+A Enter Enter. Don't use the reload user aircraft button (If you have it mapped) because it doesn't always work (at least it didn't for me).
If you've got any questions, let me know.

Thanks a lot for that help guys.. Matt, sorry I had to go that fast yesterday off messenger. I think I finally figured out how to modify that part of the CFG file... I'll have to do that on the weekend though, homework you know =)
