ok folks I'll make this one quick. Went down to Best Buy and exchanged my GeForce4 Ti4200 for a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra (had to shell out $30 as well as the old card). Tried installing the new card, and i still get a blank screen...perhaps it is the motherboard?? That wouldn't really make sense since the keyboard lights up and works (don't know if that's an indication or not). Any suggestions?? And is my new card any good? Thanks (if you need any more details see my previous posts)
see ya up there,

Sounds like if you bought another card the AGP slot on your mobo is bad. Maybe try buying a crappy PCI card? Better yet, if you have a techie-oriented friend, sometimes they keep crappy PCI vid cards with them. I know I do..lol

Ben,
In a previous posting you said you were getting more then one short beep when booting the system. Is that still the case? If so, write down the number of beeps and type, short or long. Consult the manual for the BIOS. That should lead you inthe direction of a cure.
If you are only getting one short beep on boot-up, does the system display anything? It should display at least BIOS information (black and white) on the initial reading of the boot program. If not then I would definitely look at the motherboard as the problem.

Are you able to see the start-up screen and get into your BIOS? You can get into your BIOS by pressing one of the Function buttons (F1-F12), Delete, or Escape depending on the manufacturer. If so, then you may need to change the size of the video memory that is listed. Also, if you have 2 or more AGP slots, which I doubt, but you may have, you need to move your card into the other port. Another thing if you can get into your BIOS is to check the IRQ that the card is listed in. In order for your card to work, it needs to be on IRQ 10 or 11. If you can't see this in your BIOS, then contact your computer or motherboard manufacturer to find out how to do so. If you still have further problems with this or other questions, email me at thomaspbrown@attbi.com.

ok..here goes:
Tom-The beeps actually have stopped. Think it had something to do with the memory installation (i just hadn't pushed and "clicked" them into place), but then again it could've been anything.
Thomas- No I can't see anything at all. Just a black/blank screen. The monitor is getting power, and the video card fan is spinning, but no display. And unfortuantely only one AGP port
Thanks for all your help...I'm taking it in tomorrow to a good computer shop to have them test the AGP port, and check the PCI port(s) as well. Perhaps someday I'll be able to fly again :-(...
