It'll run, but I doubt you'll be happy with the results.

FS2004 needs a decent computer, of course the faster the better
I run mine on a 2.8 Ghz Pent.4 with HT tech. and 512 ram.
It still can get slow at times.

Sorry to steal away your question Marty, but what does anyone think my graphics settings should be, i have a 128mb Radeon X300 series. I'm running mine on full for almost everything, and at least third best on everything.

you should concentrate on your monitor as well, make sure that ur monitor supports 85 MHz and up for u to experience a smooth drive. I have had a misery for a very strong computer of mine getting sad fps in fs, then today i discovered that my refresh rates were sadly low and i increased it to my optimum that my monitor allows which was 85Mhz. So along with a computer upgrade mate, you should considering getting an LCD with Digital Outlet cables condensing you in being able to run your monitor at 300MHz or more. Imagine, 15 mhz on my monitor (from 70-85) boosted my FPS by miles. Imagine running it at 300 mhz lol ...
People tend to talk about how monitors and frames are not relevant but the thing is, sometimes your video card is too fast for your monitor, and if your monitor cannot support the video card you are running then it will provide low Refreshrates causing fs to be lame.
Trust me, the monitor plays a big role in the performance of games, esp a messed up coded game like flight simulator.
If you want advice on which monitor to buy along with which digital cable, go and visit www.extremeoverclocking.com and register at their forums and start posting your questions, and a group of computer geeks (funny term, please dont get offended u guys out there) will help u sufficiently on what to chose
Cheers !

Hey Matt:
To answer your question on any computer being fast enough? One would have to spend a freaking heap of money for top end stuff to get the PC up to snuff and handle FS9 with all of the eye candy on at a reasonable frame rate (ex: Always above 20 fps no matter where you are). I spent the money because besides real-world flying, FS is the only land based hobby I have and enjoy so much. Plus I'm a computer geek at heart and like to push PC's to the brink of meltdown. Hehe.
Best Regards.

*NOTE* This is an old post but I just wanted to comment that Ryan Wilson has a Dell 9300 and he has some of the best looking pictures of Fs EVER.
