Wow! Are you trying to run NASA's mainframe from your place? lol
It sounds like a kick-a$$ system ....... I'd go for AMD too if you're just gonna use it for flightsimming ... AMD's are well known for being more reliable while running larger applications such as FS.
One thought: keep in mind that **unnoficially** it has been said that FS2006 will be much easier on the computer, so *probably* you won't need all that stuff your new computer will have. I'd just keep that in mind, John. Could save you some serious money.
Other than that, for whoever's sakes, go for it =)

Dave, I would never believe ANYTHING is going to be easier on the computer - LOL - you never know, though... in some ways, FS2004 was easier on the system than FS2002... I like the Intel stuff but I have to admit, AMD has Intel on the ropes right now! I'm itching to upgrade but will probably just go with a new Nvidia card like a 6800GT for now...

Intel is not doing a very good job in the 64bit market. As an AMD64bit user, I can tell you that their processors are very stable, they run cooler in overclock and they offer anything above a comparable Intel. There isn't a question in my mind. Go AMD!

Chris - you running XP 64 bit or what? how are the drivers? any issues? I'm considering a 64 bit upgrade in the future here... obviously we'll all be going that route eventually, but I'm talking within 6 months I hope

AMD, all day, all the time. Besides all the benefits listed above, you won't run into any 'secret' proprietary issues.

AMD, no question. I just finished building a new dual core system, and it rocks! I think the post that had all of the specs was called "Back in the air soon." Check it out.

AMD hands down. I use the AMD3800+ with serious overclocking on my system and she runs perfectly. You just cannot go wrong.
PS - AMD has been putting out better CPU's for years over Intel, just that the market is flooded with Intel so it is the more popular choice.
Best Regards.
