I was woundering if I was able to fly and file charter flights. Is there a schedule for that sort of thing? Could I do a flight such as KSWF-KLAS and file it as a charter even though it is not a real flight in the DL timetable?
Thanks a lot!

Actually, I think you can do charter flights but they just need to be approved ahead of time and filed as a 99xx flight. Matt, Terry? I know I have flown a few for the Eagles ex PHL.

The reason I brought this up was because I was looking through the logbooks and I noticed that Trevor flew some charter flights. It looked really interesting too me since I could see some destinations not normally served by Delta. I'll wait for Terry's response before I fly some.

I spoke to Matt Creed about that and doing government charters. He said he had no problem with it so long as you have prior approval through him first. I know he was going to bring the issue up farthur and see if some of those destinations could be added to ACARS...ect.

You know, flightaware.com has listed a few charter flights for sports teams. You just got to know when to look and where. :-)

Thanks a lot for the link Brittany! I emailed Matt a few days ago and have not gotten a response back. From what has been discussed here, it sounds like we can fly them as long as there is prior approval.

The reason that you have not heard back from Matt Creed is we are re-reviewing the policy about charter flights. Charter flights on a very limited basis have been permitted. DAL has Air Elite, a charter operation, it is felt that it would be consistent to have a similar operation or to permit charter flights.
We also recognize that from time to time a pilot gets the "itch" to fly into a unique airport using an aircraft in Air Elite's fleet (you have to visit their website for a list of available aircraft).
The flip side of the discussion is that the shingle over our corporate office is DAL, with 99% of our revenue coming from commercial flight operations. We need to keep our focus on our core business flying commercial flights.
Our issue is how to manage non-scheduled flights and how to avoid diluting our policies about flight segment approval. This aspect is still under discussion and development.
So until a policy is finalized you may fly prior approved charter flights. Contact your Chief Pilot in advance with your plan. When you file your Flight Plan indicate who you contacted and when for clearance. Use flight numbers 99XX
NOTE: You may find that the airport is not in the drop down list. If this is the case, select the closest commercial airport.

The new policies will issue in the Pilot Promotion Manual. There will be a message posted in the Water Cooler detailing the policy changes.
I saw your request for an Air Elite repaint. My understanding is that the GA aircraft are unmarked.

Great i wonder if It is possible for a charter to have something like Atlanta to Singapore like once a month for me. Or are charters only allowed to be short flights?

I just submitted some flights to Trevor from flightaware.com. I used Delta Air Elite flights. I belive that you can only use scheduled flights Air Elite flights. I might be wrong though and maybe we can make up flights we want to fly. That would be really cool if we could all do a ATL-SIN flight!

The only flights i would be interested in doing are the ones i have had to ride, the commercial contract flights the airlines do for the military in moving troops overseas. ATA, the tenth largest airline in the US, makes most of its money doing that, but under CRAF, Delta, United and American have all provided aircraft and crews in getting us to the sandbox and back. God it would be nice to actually recreate the flgihts i have had to endure, except this time, i am in the cockpit, not back in steerage....lol

Ryan,
Great to know that flightaware.com displays Delta AirElite flights. Let us know the callsigns that display. It would be an added bonus to use real world flights for contract flying. It would also bring a level of order and meaning to AirElite.

I used it yeterday to flind out information on a AirElite flight. First, you would type in Delta and it would give you a selction of names (AirElite is under there). Then you would find a flight number and enter that in. To find a flight number I searched some local airports like KETB which is all charter ops. Once I have the flight number I can find out where this plane has been for the last 20 days. Or, if you register, you can find out the info for the last 90 days.

Sorry about the thread ending. I hit the wrong button An example would be ELJ497. I would type in Delta Air Elite Business Jets and 497 in the flight number column and hit enter. According to this information, 497 flew KTEB-KIAD on October 27th. I can see as far back as 90 days from today.
Terry, this would bring structure to the AirElite flights since we can now find out what flights were being flown and where.
