DVA is please to announce a pilot mentoring program - this is something I've been wanting to do for a long time - here is how it works
If you would like to volunteer to be a MENTOR to help out other pilots seeking help, just send me an email to dva_mentors@charter.net and I'll get you set up.
You do not have to be a super pilot to Mentor someone - I will ask you what areas you feel comfortable mentoring in - that may just be flying a certain aircraft, or it may helping someone get started flying online on either IVAO or VATSIM. The satisfaction you will get from helping another DVA pilot get going is something you will never forget!
I know there are some here that do help pilots all the time and I would love to have your names on the DVA mentor list so I can refer students your way.
How will it work? As I get requests for help, I will look through the Mentor database and then contact that Mentor and ask them if they would mind helping this particular person. There is no committment expected - I will then go to the next person and so on until the need is filled and if it isn't, I'll do it myself
For those seeking mentoring on something - be it flying online, learning a new aircraft type, trying to figure out SIDs and STARs, jet airways, instrument approaches or you are brand new to this kind of flying and would like some help on it, you can send me an email to dva_students@charter.net and I will do my absolute best to get you paired up with a mentor as soon as possible.
This is the first step in the route to a DVA Flight Academy, where we will teach anyone that is interested in learning all about flying from the basics to transoceanic/international flights and everything in between (more on this later though)
If you have any questions about this in general, either post a response here and I'll try and clarify it, or email me at dva_training@charter.net (or click send E-Mail)
One more thing - I am sure this will be asked - I am looking for, if possible, your estimated availability for doing mentoring or getting mentored - days of the week, general timeframe and amount of time per session - I feel it is important to have an end-time that is expected - we all have lives to live. For example, I am available Mon-Wed-Fri after 9PM for about an hour or so and weekends depend on what the family has planned.... please put your timezone or better yet GMT if you know it...
