Are you familiar with how to move your current FS9.cfg file to a temporary location?? If so --do that and try to restart. Let us know what happens

Thats odd. the FS9.cfg file isn't there. it isn't in the FS9 folder in Program files and it isn't in My Documents->> Flight Sim files either. I wonder where it is?

I am starting to have a similar problem, that when I start it and at the screen, it minimizes itself, temporarly disappears and reappears. Doesn't do it when I use the crack version. WEIRD

Oliver,
Can you provide any clues about what may have been changed between the last time you had normal operation and the first time you saw this??

Have you recently added any airport scenery that might have included a new AFCAD file???

Well i have Simflyers scenery and fly tampa but i have had them for some time now. The last thing i installed was the Flight 1 Md-80 from Flight 1. And i restarted the comp and FS worked normally. Well i must say over the past couple of weeks i have had another problem in that after FS is running for between 8-34 hours i cannot open My computer. Click anything in SB3 and the menu's at the top of FS some dissapear. and if i minimize FS then i cannot maximise it again.
Dan it does not happen with a plane. It is that FS2004 will not start anymore. As in i cannot even get to the create a file screen.

Oliver, I have the same problem (your second one, with disappearing menus). After several hours, half my FS menu will disappear and I can't close anything out--can't even bring up the Task Manager with CTRL-ALT-DEL. Sometimes I can close down some apps and eventually it'll let me into Task Manager to shut everything down; other times I have to hard reset. It happens more often when I've got Firefox running in the background, and especially if I've loaded planes with my Reality XP gauges (the GNS 430 and 530 GPSes, that use 16-bit trainer programs).

Yea come to think of it Lewis i have never before using Firefox had this problem of after flying for several hours this happens. I cannot bring up the task manager either. Maybe i will just go back to IE for a while cause i do not like this happening. or hope fully it will not. Vincento honestly thank you for all of your help. I have decided that whatever it is i might as well just reinstall FS and since FS is the only thing on my comp(taking up 24GB of space) i will just reformat. Thank you for all of your help though.

Oliver,
I don't think the 2 problems you describe are related. FS running for 34 hours, huh?? hmmmm... well anyways, please look in your folder...FS9/addon scenery/scenery and make sure there is not 2 AFCAD files for the same airport in there. This is a common cause of FS crashes like yours. There may be a corrupted/damaged .dll file in your FS9/modules folder. Some people keep a FS9/modules backup safely stored away just for problems like this. If you DO have another FS9/modules folder, I recommend swapping this out temporarily just to see if this resolves the crash.
Other than than, you are probably looking at a complete reinstall of FS9.
Look on the bright side--gives you a chance to clean up any old stuff you dont use anymore
Good Luck
