This may help:
Time to Rebuild?
From time to time it may be desirable to “rebuild” your FS9.cfg file. This is especially true if you have upgraded your video card or simply have messed up the cfg file while making changes. It is very easy to create a fresh copy.
Just copy your current FS9.cfg file to your desktop then delete it from its original location at
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9.
Your path may vary if you did not use the default location when installing FS2004.
Now restart FS2004 and the program will create a “new” cfg file based upon settings it thinks you should have. Once this is done, you can copy and paste any special changes you made – such as vertex settings and “old modules” settings – into the fresh copy. You will need to manually reset your video resolution preferences from the Settings/Display/Hardware dialogue.
Always keep a backup of your FS9.cfg file as a safeguard.
If you are not sure where to find the FS9.cfg file or how to make it visible, (it is “hidden” by default), Tips and Tricks – Part 3 - has a detailed explanation of how to find it and make it always available.
You will find Tips and Tricks -part 3- at avsim.com.
