Very odd problem...It begins with FsPax and Sqwaukbox. When I have a window open inside Fs such as the in-flight mini report that goes with FsPax or the Sqwaukbox that says either sqwauk stand by or normal..it turns everything below the widnow black as seen in this image: http://img332.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11mf.jpg
This is how it is suppose to be: http://img313.imageshack.us/my.php?image=24sl.jpg
As you can see, no black. I can get rid of the black temorarily by clicking on the FsPax box and doing something like changing the background color of the box. This gets rid of the black box however when i cycle views the blackbox returns...i think I have figured out why it does this. I have an nVida Geforce 6800 and have recently found the full potential of this card by editing this:http://img313.imageshack.us/my.php?image=33ap.jpg
Before it was application controlled but I made it so i can control it and one of the things i changed was the antialaisig thing to 8xS which makes Fs look REALLY good and sharp..almost life like. However when i changed this thing to 4 (note i circled it) it makes Fs look a little worse however for some reason the blackness is gone! Why is this? How can I fix this? When i change it to 8xS Fs looks really good but why is their a blackbox? At 4 Fs doesnt look as good I hope I made myself clear and I hope one of you can help me. Thanx, Andy.

Two questions,
1) What settings do you have for anti-aliasing in FS?

2) Does the same problem occur if you run FS in windowed mode vs full screen?

For my anti-alaising settings, I have everything maxed out...Unlimited framerates, everything checked, and 1280x1024x32 for a resolution...
And if I run Fs in windowed mode then the black box disappears!

Andy,
If you choose to take control of your video card A/A settings (perfectly acceptable), you MUST UNCHECK your AntiAlias Box in FS settings. See my settings as shown above.
Try this and let me know what happens.
Also on a side note--you are only hurting yourself by running "Unlimited Framerates" but that is another story for another time
With your high end system-- you will also have better results with "Render to Texture" turned OFF
Good Luck !

Thanx Vincent from replying...I guess I'll either play Fs in windowed mode (which really theirs no diff) or set my anti-aliasing to a lower setting...I changed my target frame rates to 22 (what u have) and unchecked what you told me...thanx for your help

Andy,
With Antialiasing "unchecked" in FS, are you still getting the black boxes? You may have a driver issue, also. Have you tried any different drivers for your video card?

Well...I went to nVida.com and downloaded a driver for my Geforce 6800. The current version of my Geforce 6800 is v 6.14.0010.8198 if that helps...I dont think i have a driver issue since any other games i play (like the sims 2 or half life 2) work fine without a problem...and im not exactly sure how to change my driver...hope this info helps

Try turning your AA/AF off completely. That's what I have to do with my 6600GT. If I run ANY hardware AA or AT, my screen flakes out after a few minutes. Any time I get a tooltip on the screen, it freezes the screen below the tooltip and changes it to an image from a few seconds before, frozen until the tooltip goes away. Popup windows do the same thing.
I've tried every damn thing in the book, about nine versions of drivers, and nothing helps. I simply cannot run hardware anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering, period. 81.98 mentioned fixing FS2004 problems on 6800s and 7800s, but it didn't work for me. Maybe I'll give it one more go with a full deinstall/cleaning/reinstall of 81.98 and hope I don't break something.
