Ok yes, as the title says- I am going to be upgrading my memory on my system. I currently have 512(2x256mb)DDR2. Running FsPax, AS6, and payware craft, i usually average around 20 FPS in nice weather, but in bad weather sometimes i get as low as 10 FPS. If i were to add 2x512mb chips to add 1 gb (to take advantage of the DDR2), how many frames do you think i would gain?
Thanks!

That depends, could be 3 could be as much as 15 and there are just some times that memory alone cannot fix. But the Upgrade to one GB is always a good thing never the less

one thing you could do is take out one of the 256 chips and add a 1GB chip to give you 1.3GB

You must use "matched" DDR2 memory. Your system will not work if you don't. Check your manufacturers web site or you original computer documents it will explain this in detail. This is most important with 64 bit systems.

Well i have 2x256 that came with the computer and im looking at 2 of the same 512 chips(although different brand). all are 533 mhz. I assume that would be matched, correct?

let me correct the difference between the 256 and 512's are different, but both of the new 512s are the same.

If your FPS rates drop in bad weather, I suspect that the GPU is your biggest problem. Have you tried using some of the AS6 DXT texture sets?
Cheers!
