I tried to figure this out in the promotions manual, but it is unclear. I am a stage two captain. I took both the 757 and 767 f/o exams and passed. I have the level D 767 and would like to be able to file flight reports using it from time to time. Thus, my goal is simply to have a rating to be able to fly the 767. I do not need to switch programs, unless of course, that is a prerequisite, which I think it may be. I did take my 767 ACARS check ride last week, but it has not been graded. I assume it is a FAIL since I listened too much to the computer first officer and did not land pretty...but that is a different story. SOOO, I would just like clarification on what is necessary to be rated to fly the 767, and for someone to flunk my checkride so I can re-do it. BTW, it may all be moot since my wafe has pretty much put the hammer down on flight sim

Adam if you are a stage 2 pilot and are just looking for an additional rating in a stage 3 aircraft, which the 767 is, then so long as you passed the test for F/O you will have it as an additional rating. Its only stage 4 aircraft that you need to take a checkride for to get the additional rating. Check in the pilot center and look at the aircraft you are rated to fly. The 757 and 767 should be listed there if your test have been graeded and you passed. So enjoy that Level D, its a great plane. And hopefully your wife will give in some.

For a stage 2 Capt. to get an additional rating in the Stage 3 B757 or B767, the pilot is required to pass the FO Exam in either program and pass the corresponding Check Ride in the aircraft. The pilot with the credentials can elect to remain in the Stage 2 program or request a transfer to Stage 3.

Oh my bad. It must have changed since I went through those stages. Because I remember the old promotion manual from November of 03, which was current up until recently, you only had to take a F/O test to get the additional rating. Sorry if I mislead you Adam. I was basing my answer on old procedures.

Alright. Terry, that's what I was thinking, because you had e-mailed me about this. I think, and maybe I am wrong, but that gets a little ambiguous in the promotions manual. Especially because you have two planes to go to from the stage two program. Thanks Terry!....and Luke, I belive my 767 check ride is a fail, it just hasn't been graded yet.

And thanks Matt as well. It is clear to me now from everyone. basically either way, if you want to fly anything in stage three (from stage two), you need a check ride, and that is how it should be. Thanks guys.
