My hard drive crashed today and I had to replace it with a new one. So besides probably (there is a slight chance that i can restore my old drive) i have lost every single file I had for FS as well as everything else, music, notes, videos, ect. So if you don't see me for a few days thats because I am having to reinstall everything by hand, which means for alot of things its going to mean emailing companies to get back aircraft, like the level d and the Dreamfleet 727. As well as Activesky and Ultimate terrain. If anyone has any hints or anything to help me out alittle, I would appreciate it. thanks

Matthew, for the Flight1 stuff such as the LDS 763 and DF722, simply re-download and click re-install.

if u have 2 rom drives...unplug the slave drive, and plug you old hard drive up...when windows boots on your new hard drive,it will go thru about 5 minutes worth of blue screens, giving data about repairing this, deletin that, restoring this..just let it run..when its done, windows will resume loading on your new hard drive, but 99% of what was on your hard drive will be stored in folders..you'll have to open each one and browse for the pics,files..e.t.c...find what ya want, make a new folder and copy and paste...thats how I saved all my stuff off my recently fried hard drive...

Thanks guys. Yeah i got most of my payware stuff downloaded. and joe, thanks. i will check that out tomorrow and see if it works. me and my neighbor were playing around with it today. we will have to try that out. We tried something similiar, trying to slave it over, but it wouldn't read it at all. Even with windows reinstalled on the new hard drive, when we plugged both in it came up with an error message saying the disk wasn't right for that configuration or something like that. So if i am reading what yuor saying, we should just try that again and then just leave it alone?

That sucks. I know how you feel. I tried resizing one of my partitions a few weeks ago and my whole comp got messed. I tried fixboot i tried fixmbr i tried chkdsk and none of it got past the windows splash screen. I had to reinstall windows along with all of my FS stuff and programs i once had. The sad thing is that i lost over 5,000 pictures Along with that i used a lot of my 20gb internet cap to get all of my stuff back. I feel your pain.

I lost my computer today. Crashed, and never up again. I'm on an Internet Bar until I get the new parts...
I'm so disappointed, I'm so sad I disappointed my team.

Don't sweat it Gaston. I just got home from work and there is no way I can get setup for a flight now. Congrats to the winning team!

I'm sorry Gaston. Trust me i know the feeling. Yeah i am not too worried about the FS stuff, its easily replaced. What bites was all the pictures and videos and music I had on my old hard drive. Pictures from Portugal, Russia and all, those you can't replace. That's what hurts. But trying to stay positive, hell, maybe my system will run better now

Matthew, as Joe said, you may be able to recover the data IF the hard drive will spin up. I highly recommend buying an external backup drive and copying critical stuff such as pictures and video to it. It wouldn't hurt to even have a spare hard drive that you, perhaps every 90 days, copy all critical data to and leave it in the safety deposit box at the bank or something - you never know when a theft or fire or other catastrophe will happen.

I keep all my stuff at a data warehouse where my wife works. You may want to check into this type of storage If you keep valuable data.
