I'm having an issue with SB (yes, I have the newest version!) where someone saying something will finish their statement, and then 2-3 seconds later, the last 1 - 2 seconds of their statement can be heard once more. This "delay" is more of an echo of sorts, without the falloff.
I cannot make out any pattern in how this occurs - but it doesn't occur each and every day that I use it, and I've tried VERY hard to adjust all variables possible, one by one (go scientific method!), but cannot resolve the issue.
Not a HUGE deal now that I know to just ignore those secondary sounds and just start talking through them (in response to ATC commands, etc). But it just makes it a little harder to decipher what is being said.
Anyone come across this? I can't find anything helpful on the actual SB site...

Sounds Like you nmay either have a Hot Mike, meaning the Mike is always on, and you are hearing feedback, or someone else has the hot mike on the Network.
Other problems have been noted with the servers for the Vox Channels, Basically in a Nut shell it is called lag, being there is probally nothing wrong with SB3....

Anthony, thanks for your reply!
However, when I use it on my end, I always use headphones. Feedback is impossible. And when I don't use headphones, the exact same effect occurs, probably down the the millisecond in addition to the fact that the volume and clarity of the "repeat voice" is identical - so we can rule out myself having a hot mic.
I am inclined to reject the idea of it being someone else on the network having a hot mic, as well - only because it pretty much happens every single time anybody talks and, again, is equally clear and loud as the first time they said it. However, I will pay closer attention and see if I can decipher any patterns that may relate to someone else having a hot mic... this would at least explain its random-ness from session to session.
What more might one be able to tell me about this "lag" that has been noted? Where can I find more information?
Thanks!

It Is possible to have a Hot mike with a Head set, I have one myself, and if you have a Key asignment to the head set through FSUIPC it can happen, aslo if you have 5 or 600 to spend on a Pro headset with a PTT switch, then I could say rule that out
But as of lately, the Vatsim srvers have been acting up, As far as lag there is nothing you can do about that part, especially if you are on a dial up, Post a Bug report in the Squawbox forum , and maybe Joel can decifer it, also is there any other web Mikes or other apps that utilize voice that may be running still????
