I have been running FS2004 on my computer with a 1.6 Ghz Processer and 512 mb of RAM. If I upgrade to 2 GB of RAM will FS2004 run faster or do I have to upgrade the Processer?

Your computer will run faster with more memory alone, I upgrade my RAM to double, and performance improve almost the same amount!

Its really a combination of things and not just one stand alone piece of hardware.
If you really want to see all the eye candy and can afford to upgrade or get a new system,go with at least a 3.0Ghz CPU with at least 2 Gb of DDR Ram and a motherboard that has PCIExpress Graphics, and get a PCI Express Video Card to go with it...those three main components along with a good CPU cooler, and Case fans will open up new doors as to what youre going to experience with FS2004,plus that set up will allow you to run FS X at lowered settings, about mid range on all the sliders from what Im hearing now...
cheers

I'm running an Athalon 1.3 overclocked to 1.4 and just downloaded the new UT Euro scenery package. No stutters, or disc access stops, and frame rate maintained 20FPS in the default 172.
This system also has the ATI 9600 Pro card and a Gig of ram. So, as the others said, it is a combination of components that can make your system run or bottle-neck it. A 1.6 Ghz system is recommended for the new UT Euro scenery I downloaded, but I figured with the support of the ram and the the video card I'd have no problems. I haven't so far.
If you install a stick of 1 Gig of ram I can assure you that you will see a dramatic difference as long as your video card is up to the rest of the task of making up for your processor speed.

My machine is a P4 3.0Ghz, 4Gigs. of RAM and a 256Mb PCIexpress graphics card. My framerates suck. I barely get 15fps with default planes in 2D. With the LDS767 I drop to 3fps in VC connected to SB3. All my settings are default, with simple clouds, AA off... Any ideas?

There must be something wrong on your comp settings Mike, I have P4 2.0 Ghz, 738 Mb RAM and Radeon 9600 Pro and my framerates with AA on , 100% Ultimate traffic AI set and FSGlobal 2005 and I can get about 18 fps in 2D in a busy airport in my 767 LDS. Check for virus or spyware programs that might be running in your comp. Check your disk defrag as well.
