Ok so, I dont know that much about computers, I mean i'm not completely useless, but I can't figure this out. A few weeks ago I updated my graphics drivers which i thought would be a good thing...
Well, now FS doesnt recognise my graphics card anymore and my graphics are crap and it lags like crazy.
Counter Strike has no problems, I'm running CS in Open GL mode and its working just fine.
I've done everything I know how to including running the dxdiag tool and what concerns me about that, is that after I run the tool and I go through the direct draw test, it still is telling me that direct draw is not available... even though I just tested it and it worked.
It is also telling me that Direct 3D is not available.
I have Direct X 9 so I dunno what the deal is....

I tried to do a system resotre but that did nothing. Its an ATI card, and I'm asumeing they were overwritten. I just ran the self installer that I got form the manufacturers website.

Been through a very similar thing ... FS acting as if no Direct 3D acceleration present, absolutely hopeless, terrible fps etc.... Reinstalling video drivers (with full clean up) did not help, neither did reinstalling DirectX. My problems were caused by an infamous tweaker utility, Game XP. I ended up doing a clean reinstallation of Windows.

Go to Guru3d.com, and look for a cleaner utility for the ATI Mess, uninstall the drivers, then reinstall, make sure you get the right Omega's for that card, also , if you installed the 3.60 FSUIPC module, make sure you did not put two of them in the module folder, Never overwrite, always remove first, install second
Guru3d also has a very good Forum for Trouble shooting there as well... Good Luck, A reformat is always a fun venture...

Make sure you boot into safe mode (keep hitting F8 while booting) or you won't be able to delete the drivers all the way. Driver Cleaner Pro is freeware and powerful. Someone in the support forum had good tips that I followed and things worked out fine.
I use the latest Xtreme-G 3rd party drivers for nVidia and they work great!

ugh..... Projects..... this should be fun... Im thinking I'll just deal with not flying for a while.... i'm in the market for a new desktop specifically for my gaming anyway.... Hopefully I'll be able to purchase that here in the next few weeks when my loans come in...
EDIT So i found that ATI put out some more updates which I downloaded today, and i'm happy to say that the new drivers fixed my problem... *phew* thanks to all those who offered suggestions. I appreciate it, but i'm glad to be back in the sky's!
