I have been plagued with this issue for a few weeks. Not all the time, but sometimes, like last night, my computer will reboot for no reason. Last night I flew the POSKY 757 (DVA installer) from LAX to DTW. Everything was fine until touchdown. The moment my wheels hit pavement, the computer rebooted without warning. It happened once with a freeware biz jet at same time. I have a DC9 JT8 sound pack that if I go outside for an extended period of time, it reboots.
Could my sound card be bad? I have played with the DirectX hardware accelarater even turning it off and it still does it. I have tried stock drivers and the latest from Creative (I have the SB Audigy 2 value). Both sets do the same thing. Help.

I have 640MB ;-)
Maybe the Touchdown sound file used for those planes it too big and overloads the PC.
It might be the hard drive too. But I know nothing about HD's.

What is your sound quality set to in FS? I have mine on medium, but I heard it's good to set it on low as it opens up resources. This might lesson the strain on your sound card, but you have a good card so shouldn't be a problem. Can you try the sound card from your old computer for a while just to see if you may have a bad sound card?

I had the exact same problem. The problem for me was that I had to much stuff hardware wise on my computer, my computer was using too much juice so it shut itself down, and I have a gig of memory. It would work with 512 but when i put in my other 512 it restarted and stuff. I fixed it by removing my floppy drive and wireless card, and now it works like a charm. I too thought it was the memory. Bear in mind that this was the solution to my problem. I now just run my comp without a floppy drive and wireless card. Good luck. P.S. it is probably your power supply.

I had a problem with random restarts also, mine was a bad power supply. I would also check the cpu fan, make sure its running. system could shut down if the cpu temp is getting to high.

Well, You don't have to tear down the pc's and stick forks in the ram and wiggling cables around to land a plane. if you need help with with this. send me an email then we will get ahold of each other on a messenger of your choice. I'll go step by step with you find the problem with sound and graphics. (will also look at the services running thats your memory and cpu speed)

Well, it was apparently FS doing it. I had a user error ( I did something I shouldn't have) and caused the deletion of numerous settings and files to dissapear. I ended up having to reinstall FS9 and believe it or not, the clicking sound is gone, I haven't had a reboot since then and things are actually performing better. I can't explain it, but the problem, right now, is gone. I even stree tested it with flying the DC9 from DTW to RIC last night, heavy traffic online and the JT8 sound pack up full throttle. Not one hickup. Cross your fingers!

Just as a suggestion for everybody outhere, I just remembered that about a year ago, my PC was just rebooting from the nowhere, I had it checked, and the problem was actuallly in the Power Source of the CPU, they had to change the whole thing, so I just decided to get a new one instead of paying the same for a new power source.... when I got the new PC upgraded to P4 1.8 ghz, that's when I first knew FS
