Hello,
Tonight I was flying a KATL - KDTW run online on VATSIM in a Wilco CRJ2. Everything going fine, no problems. When turning onto final, there seemed to be a little confusion about what runway I was to use, I thought it was 22L and repeated that back, controller didn't correct me. Right as I was finishing turn to final, controller says cleared to land, 22R. I questioned him, he said 22R. No problem, still 10 miles on final, I can cross over, right? I turn A/P off to resume hand flying, and then, out of the blue, the plane literally does a barrel roll -- inverted in less than 5 seconds! Then, FS9 just quits. Completely. I mean back to my desktop quits. I tried restarting it, it seems to work fine. Even flew around KDTW in the CRJ2, no problems.
My question is this. I've only had FS9 for about 8 days now, and this hasn't happened before. Has anyone else encountered this? Am I doing something wrong? Or is FS9 not working? I've installed the update from MS, and am running on a 3.2Ghz Pentium D with 1GB Ram and 256MB video card, so my system should handle it I think.
Thanks for any input!

Well i have had something like that happen to me once...
I was enroute to KATL from TNCM in the PMDG 738, At FL380, i had FS minimized As i usually do to talk on MSN and stuff...i think FS had only been minimized less that 2 mins, I checked back with FS to see how things were going, and to my horror, The plane was all the way upside down Descending fast through FL370 . My autopilot was NOT engaged...nothing not LNAV VNAV A/T or anything else was on as it was before this happened. I know for a fact that i did not hit any keys or anything. First thing i do is turn on Slew and hit the trigger (or spacebar) and it has me pointing North straight and level, as is the normal when i do that. I realign myself with the programmed Flight plan in the FMC and continue the flight. (in fact, that flight is in my logbook somewhere.)
I have never had the same thing happen since.
I Really don't know how or why this happens, but i do know that there are some places in FS where REALLY weird things happen that are unexplained even to this day.
I know that there is somewhere north of St Martins that if you fly through it just right, all your systems will just go haywire, usually you recover and all your systems are the same as before you entered "the area". (I have flown through this "area" more than once, its real, its really there, And its kind of scary when you go through it.)
I have no clue what these areas are, all i can say is that they exist, and there are many more of them apparently.

When flying the fleet installer 727 I'd have a glitch every now and then that involved the Sperry 150. It was like it had a mind of it's own and start flying the aircraft left or right of course, start an uncommanded dive or climb, etc. It's never happened in the DF727.

There is also a glitch on A330 (fleet installer). If you're flying on full screen and change back to regular screen, AT disangages automatically and I cannot figure out why. When I am on the desktop, all of a sudden hear the warning sound that the AT disangages and rush back to FS9 to engage manually.
Also, when you're on the tarmac and if you change plane from select aircraft menu and load PSSA340, the mfd's came all blank. Weird ha!!!!

Well guys, thanks for all the responses! It makes me feel better to know that I wasn't seeing things (and that I don't need a new copy of FS9.) FS9 is a large, complicated program that attempts to cover the entire Earth. I guess little glitches like this are inevitable.
