As you are aware, examinations are currently unavailable and have been so for several days. On behalf of the airline, I apologize. Let me take a moment to explain why, and where we're going.
During late 2003, we received extensive feedback regarding many of our aircraft examinations. Most of this centered around the difficulty in obtaining information to answer the questions, confusing topics and some plain incorrect answers. Our Director of Training, Geoffrey Smith, has been working with several pilots including Mark Mestre, our 757/767 Chief Pilot, to improve the questions and provide pilots with training materials.
To facilitate this, I have taken all the tests offline for the past few days. The Testing Center has been reloaded with new questions and answers, and they are currently being reviewed by the program Chiefs in order to ensure accuracy and completeness. I expect this to be finished by the middle of the week.
The second key component is the release of updated documentation. Several areas of the Testing Center, specifically those relating to ATC, Navigation and Weather, are dependent on the release of a new manual covering these topics, called the Flight Encyclopedia. It is also being reviewed by the staff, and I expect a release at the same time as the Testing Center. I urge all of you to examine this manual before taking any tests.
One area of the testing center that will asist us going forward is the ability to track questions individually, to see the percentages for each question, as opposed to each test. If we get some questions with an abnormally low scoring rate, we can spot this and take action.
Thanks for your patience. This is a slow process, that has been going on for almost a year. The finish is almost in sight.
Cheers!

Awesome document, Luke. It's things like this that set this VA above all the others.
And I couldn't help but notice the screenshot that got used as the cover photo... ;-)

Note that this does not apply to new applications. The initial questionnaire works. Let your friends know that they are welcome to join DVA.
