Is it possible to use the DVA ACARS on the first flight considering you do not have a Pilot ID yet? I am really eager to find out hwat this ACARS runs like, have downloaded it but for authentication, it needs a Pilot ID. Should I just use it on my second flight?

Yes, that would be the best way of doing it. I need to determine some way of getting around this limitation.
Cheers!

I must voice a bit of concern on this issue. Many people join and never do a flight and to give them access to ACARS is saying anyone who signs up can join the ACARS chat. What i would suggest is allowing them to use somewhat of an interim ACARS you sign in using your name and password instead of a PID and password however the chat area is disabled, i.e you can neither view nor recieve messages, once that flight is completed then they may download the full version of ACARS. This just prevents those who would join just to chat and never actually do a flight. I don't know how difficult it would be to implement but its just my suggestion.

Well, what would the point of joining to chat. I would think that the person would not go through the entire join process just to chat.

Over the past twelve months, we've added some granular access control restrictions to ACARS to prevent abuse. I'm not too worried about this; 99% of our members do the right thing off the bat; 0.9% eventually do the right thing, and I'm not going to let the 0.1% dictate what the rest of us can and cannot do.
Cheers!

I agree - I think the chat should especially be open to new members who might be having difficulties getting ACARS to work (not that its hard) or have general questions. I've watched lots of great teaching and learning go on via the ACARS chat and that is one of its features in my mind.
Keep in mind that you can always just ignore the chat...
