The real issue is FSUIPC's author to get the module to work in FS-X. Without FSUIPC, nothing will work - no Squawkbox, no ACARS, nothing. If the FSUIPC author is a reasonable programmer and maintains backwards compatability, there should not be any issues using existing software in FS-X. I'm not sure if anyone tried installing the FSUIPC module in the FS-X demo, but I doubt it would have worked.
As for add-on planes, most 2002/04 planes work in the FS-X demo, but a lot of complex panels do not. For example, the DVA Fleet MD-11 panel has an absolute heart attack if you try loading it in FS-X because it insists on the gauges being digitally signed and a lot of other technical crap that isn't worth mentioning. I imagine the Airbus panel won't work either. There will be only one of two outcomes to this problem - Microsoft restores backwards compatability which was lacking in the demo, or the panel authors rewrite their gauges. I'd put my money on the latter.
I guess this is one of those "wait and see" answers. Nobody is really going to know what will or will not work in FS-X because Microsoft is being stubborn regarding distribution of the SDK to developers which hints to me that the FS-X SDK development model isn't finished. It would be nice if we could start developing software for FS-X now rather than waiting for it's release. Developers are getting as impatient as the users.

Apologies for the bump, but I thought I'd share : http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=55488
It appears that a FSUIPC beta for FS-X has already been created including the SDK, this means that any external applications (such as DVA Acars software, Squawkbox or vasFMC for example) should work with FS-X. Using existing aircraft panels however is still an issue that will hopefully be ironed out before the FS-X release. (Which is not related to FSUIPC, but Microsoft)

Karl,
After I saw your very mature motto only one answer comes to my mind for you... "No, only the Airbus planes will work with FSX"

Without a patch or mod, no. Sadly, very few patches will be released forcing us to buy more payware for fsx. These companies are just plain greedy for cash. I can barely afford fsx but more payware, no.
