Hi guys.
I've done extensive testing on the control effectiveness and trim of my recently-modded CRJ FDE, and I've come to the conclusion there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. On the contrary, the trim effectiveness is near perfect on this plane! You can't ask for better.
The problem a lot of our pilots are having is that they're not correctly judging the trim setting. That silly wheel gauge for trim doesn't tell you diddly about the stabilizer's setting in terms of degrees. Please notice the screenshot posted above. You'll see on AFSD that the stabilizer is set to 5.3 degrees nose up (the max in the FDE is 15 degrees nose up). Please pay close attention to the position of the wheel gauge for the trim. This is what 5.3° ANU looks like. I set this trim for a CG of about 22% of the MAC. This setting should be almost ideal for a smooth rotation at 140kts IAS with flaps 8.
I've made some changes to the FDE as well to include climb thrust, the trim, and an entirely new spool-rate. You're going to love it. Engine response is dramatically improved in this new edition. The old table 1505 (the parameters in the FDE that control engine spool rates) was actually taken from the default 737-400, and as such was no good. I've notified Luke of the new changes and hopefully he will be able to impliment them on the fleet installer soon. If you can't wait and want it now, email me and I'll send it over to you.

There needs to be a digital tim indicator on the EICAS. That wheel is useless.

Adam, do you think you could create two gauges, one for center of gravity and one as a digital trim readout? That should be very basic gauges as this is raw data from FS. We could put them where that trim wheel gauge is. George, WILCO.

Charly, that's excellent! Exactly what we need. I'll ask Luke to put this onto the fleet installer bird when he's able to.

Well there you go. I'm only off by a little. If I had some references I could set it correctly. Mind sharing your source on the trim settings for takeoff with me Mitch?
