Heres a basic idea i start with Scenery
Lets take the new DFW scenery from FPR aviable on Avsim. kdfwv3.zip thats the file name if you want to follow along
Once you download your new scenery, you will need a program called Winzip or winrar bot are free to use, or just use the windows one either way.
Open the new Zip file you just downloaded.
in there should be a folder called FPR-DFWv3. so what i do is take that folder an move it to your desktop.
Once it is on your desktop, go to your Flight Simulator folder C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight simulator 9/ (note: C is the defualt Hard Drive your might be differnt if you have more than one hard drive)
ok now you should see tons of folders, but we only need one, Look for Addon Scenery, should be on the top row.
Open that folder, Now take the folder you moved to your desktop FPR-DFWv3 an move it to the addon scenery folder.
Close everything out, start up flight simulator, on the main page click on settings, click on Scenery Library, Click ADD. Once this is open, find your addon scenery folder agan open it, Find the FPR-DFWv3 folder, highlight it, DO NOT OPEN just highlight, and click ok. Close Flight Sim an restart it. an your all set.
NOW, you do not have to do this for every scenery you install, Some scenerys dont require you to add them to the Scerney Library, Read the read me files an it should tell you IF YOU DO HAVE TOO it should look somthing like this
Installation:
1.Unzip the zipped file to a temporary location
2. Open the folder "KDFWv3"
3. Move the "FRF-KDFWv3" folder to the FS9/Addon Scenery/ folder in your computer.
4. Start FS9, go to the Scenery Library, locate and activate "FRF-KDFWv3"
5. Close FS, restart, and fly...
Next will do panels.
Download the panel you want to install, open the zip file just as before, I like to create a new folder on my desktop an move everything into this folder.
One you do that, there should be a couple folders called Panel, Sound, Gauges not all panels will have a sound folder but alot will.
Again go back to you main FS directory, Open the folder called Gauges that you just downloaded, move all the files that are in that folder to your FS9/Gauges Folder. Open the new sound folder (if there is one) move these files to your FS Sound folder.
Now open the Aircraft folder in your FS9 Direcotry, find the plane you want to add the panel too, now Drag the new PANEL folder you downloaded into the aircraft you want to install the panel to, Click yes to overwrite the files.
And your all done.
now will do Sound Addons.
Download a sound package you would like to install, Agan go back to the FS9 main Directory, Open your Aircraft Folder, find the A/C you want to install the sound package to, in there should be some folders called, Panel, Sound, Texture, Models.
Open the sound folder, go back to the New Sound package you just downloaded, highlight an drag all the files into the Sound Folder of the aircraft you want to intall it to. Thats it
Note on sound, you may read the readme file an it will tell you to place there sound files in your main FS Folder, DONT.
if you leave the files in the sound folder of the aircraft the wont get all crazy later, Alot of sound files are named the same an if you have 3 differnt aircraft with the same File names. then ur going to hear the same sounds for all.
I hope this helps an gives you a general idea on how to do it, once you get the hang of it its like 2nd nature.
Once everything installed you can delete all the stuff you saved to your desktop
