Hey everyone,
I'm having a really annoying issue w/ my PC. Just yesterday, it began to restart w/o explaination. I changed the setting that stops Windows from restarting on its own, but no use, I still have my computer restarting. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Check for viruses first. If that's not the problem, open the case and make sure no dust has accumulated on the motherboard, CPU cooler or video card. If dust is present, use canned air to gently blow it away (computer OFF while doing this!) and out of the case. Also make sure all the cooling fans are clean and spinning freely while the computer is running, including the power supply. Speaking of power supplies, this would be my next suspect for problems. 90% of all the computer troubles people have can be traced to a power supply that is starting to fail.

my comp has been freaking kinda too latley so i would say check the power supply because i had a 350 in and i boosted up to a 450 and it totally stopped all problems and serprisingly stopped a small problem i had in FSX...

ok everyone, here's the update:
i opened up the case n gave it a good cleaning. but it still does the whole shutdown/restart. i am beginning to think that it is a power issue. i may have to change my power supply. I am currently using a 400W power supply, but idk if i should either get a new 400W or get a 500W or even more :/. Any suggestions???

Did you add any new equipment(new graphics card, a printer on a USB port) or program(FSX) and then this started to happen? If not re-seat your memory and all boards that are in a slot. Check your power connections to the hard drives and cd/dvd drive. If this started when you started running a new program then I would check that my DirectX was current and that my drivers for my graphics card was the newest one.

Robert do a full virus scan and spy-ware scan with multiple scan software. Unless you installed new hardware, your computer cant be wokring and then just start to have a problem with the power. Unless you are over clocking it...

Did you verify that the fans are all running? Leave the side off and start your computer up, then visually confirm that all fans are running and that no wires or other objects are blocking them. This has all the earmarks of either an overheating video card (random reboots and lockups galore) or failing power supply. Seen all too many of both over the years.
