Tried to do some flying with squawkbox last night but could not get the transponder to switch from the standbye mode to "c" mode. I finally exited out of the DVA MD90 I was flying and started a flight with a FS '04 737. In this I could change the squawkbox transponder. I tried to contact squawkbox regarding this, but was told that since it was an aircraft I d/l from here, that I needed to contact somebody on this site for the fix to this problem. Any suggestions?

Make sure you start FS completely before starting SB. Once FS is up, start SB and connect. I usually get that problem when I start SB too soon.

Are you switching your transponder in radio stack from standby to Mode C?

In SB3, go to the transponder menu and change it there. I never use the one on the radio stack, that never works for me.
You can also change the xpder codes in the SB3 window by typing .x and the code,

Thanks, I did try to change this in the SB stack, nothing would happen. I will try the code that George suggested.

I just received a note from tech support for SB3, they seem to think that there is a button or dial on the MD90 panel that is overiding the capability. I have searched around to no avail. Am I missing something?

In the transponder stack, there are two knobs for TCAS: one for activation/stand-by modes on the left, and one for detection range on the right. Left-click and right-click on the knobs to turn them. Hope this helps...

Usually I set the left knob on 'TA'. Then you'll see the Squawkbox transponder turn to "Norm" and the controller will see you on his screen. For the range, it's up to you
