Hello,
after a lot of trial and error, I found a solution to a graphics glitch I recently discovered.
It's about the baggage carts (the trailer vehicles that move to your plane when you open the cargo doors).
There are 4 models used, two US style vehicles and 2 flatnose Euro style vehicles. One of each type had the problem. It was caused to faulty contact point data in the corresponding sim.cfg file.
The resulted was vehicles that "sink" into the ground
When I noticed that some cart versions did not sink and some did, I thought I should look for the problem and if it can be fixed by simply changing some configuration files.
The baggage carts are found in these directories:
..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\VEH_air_bagcart1
..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\VEH_air_bagcart_FlatNosed
..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\VEH_air_bagcart_blue_sm
..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\VEH_air_bagcart_FlatNose_Gray_sm
VEH_air_bagcart1 and VEH_air_bagcart_FlatNosed are alright and don't need fixing.
However, Microsoft screwed the contact point data for the other 2. I don't know why, but I found some values that work fine and which fix the problem.
Each cart is configured it its directory by a file called sim.cfg.
So, to fix this sinking, following files have to be changed:
..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\VEH_air_bagcart_FlatNose_Gray_sm\sim.cfg
Backup the original file and then change following data in the original sim.cfg:
wheel_radius=2.08
static_pitch=0.0
static_cg_height=1.995
Change these to:
wheel_radius=2.4
static_pitch=0.0
static_cg_height=3.2
..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\VEH_air_bagcart_blue_sm\sim.cfg
Backup the original file and then change following data in the original sim.cfg:
wheel_radius=1.685
static_pitch=0.0
static_cg_height=2.13
Change these to:
wheel_radius=2.38
static_pitch=0.0
static_cg_height=3.1
No more sinking into the ground.
Some feedback if this problem occurs with all versions would be great. As described above, it only occurs with the dark grey flatnose vehicle and with the blue US style vehicle.
