Hi there, I have just purchased a new tower, its second hand and rather than replacing my current one, is there a way I can link the two together to harness the power of the two of them? If so how? Would there be anykind of conflict? My cirrent is an AMD 3000+ and the new one AMD64 3500.
Much appreciated.

What you could do is run squawkbox, activesky (if you have it) and ACARS on one system and run only FS on the other. That's the set up I use. They are linked using FS Wide (or widefs, I can never remember). You also need to have a registered version of fsuipc. Even though it requires a cash investment, it works great and makes a noticable difference.

You cannot "link" them together to make one super computer but you could use both of them to run different programs like Larry suggests.

Cheers Larry and Rob, that sound pretty good to me. So is it possible to run FS on the new one (not connected to the internet) and ACARS and other things on my current one (with connection)? Or do both need connection. It does make sense to use both in some way, so any help I can get from you guys is really very very important and appreciated.
Cheers fellas.

Couple of things you will need,
WIFI or a Hardwire Hub to connect the two in a Local Area Network(LAN) or you can run a wire from one to the other in a peer to peer configuration. A cross over cable will be needed for this way. And this http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html so the Programs can talk to one another.
The Internet machine has to have SB3 or FSINN , ACARS, and any other Internet based program you want to use for Flying.
You can Get a Router as well and wire the two computers so they both have internet access or go with a wireless one, you go Wireless, you will need to make sure you have wireless interface cards, if th computer is not set up for it.
There are many ways to connect the two, you have to decide which is economical for you then make the choice and go from there.

Just remember if you go P2P with a xover cable, you will need 2 network cards in the computer tied to the internet.

Gentleman, I have a further question. I do have two computers linked together via a linksys router, but, one computer is upstairs and one is in the basement. To start ACARS, etc. on the machine downstairs, I have to walk down there to do it. Is there a way to control the machine downstairs from the upstairs machine? Will Remote Desktop work, or, will I need something else? I guess I am getting lazy as I get older.
Thanks for your help... Cleon

btw, RDP would work, but it'll lock the workstation that you log into - unless you're running server, in which case it'll start another session.

Remote Desktop is only available with XP Pro (the server portion), but as George mentioned VNC is a nice way to go.

RDP isn't available on the home edition? I know the only "difference" is supposed to be the ability to join a domain...
Can't beat the price and features of VNC
