The synopsis of opinion is to upgrade so far. I will continue to monitor your inputs but I am in a go ahead mode right now. A cpouple of questions now are ; Which video card the X 1950 Pro or the X1650 Pro. The 1950 costs more and would it be worth the cost? It will have to b e AGP.
Rob, the power supply you reccomended is on back order. It sounded good and I prefer to use a reccomended card as these things can be unpredictable. All recomendations are appreciated. Is there another?
Last, I still have a year on the Dell warnity. Should I go this outside of Dell? Would the warnity be voided on the whole computer?
As to the the sound card. I have had to reset the card back to default several times due to a pop up telling me to. I don't know whether I sould suspect it being bad or not. Any thoughts here? Dell would have to replace it if I could prove it to be bad.
Thanks for your replys. Stay with me as this will be a fun project, I hope.

If you buy a new computer down the road, it won't likely have an AGP slot. Most are going over to PCI Express. Hate to see you waste the money if you'll only be using it a short while.
Do you have PCI Express or only the PCI slot on your MB?

Before I bought the x1650 (512 MB) card I told you about, I compared the X1650 Pro and the x1950 Pro and the additional price just did not add up. The Sapphire I bought did have the highest core speeed and the fastest memory i could find and I'm very happy with it. I think you would be happy with either one.

Ralph,
Here is a link to compare the Saphire version of the x1650 Pro and the x1950 PRo. Slide to the right to get to the AGP verisons. Specs are nearly identical.

Rob,
I think I read somewhere that the 1950 was cooler than the 1650. That is about the only thing I find that is differant. I will pass this by the ATI people and see what they say. If all is about even then it will be the X1650 as it is about $50. bucks cheaper.

I have the X1600 Pro 512 MB AGP and so far it gives me beautiful images..Between 12-FS to 25 when there's full online traffic (DialUp). Also check a shot I made with it in the Image Gallery (Not the previous posts as Paint deteriorated the quality).
Hope this helps
