DVA President Terry Eshenour, DVA057, passed his PPL checkride tonight, proving he was able to hand fly the airplane! We did slow flight, stalls, pattern work, etc. and despite all my attempts to put us in the dirt, he did a really good job and the only "go-around" he had to do was for the Gator on the runway - thanks Terry for not smacking the Gator - he's starting to get a little nervous after what Sid attempted awhile back...
No longer will the stories of old hold true - "Go-Around" Terry is no more - sorry guys, you'll have to come up with a new nickname
Please join me in congratuling the boss on a job well done!

Of course you didn't do go around - thats the only area of airmanship where Terry didn't need additional practice.
Congrats!

Thank you for your overly generous and kind words.
For those who were my instructors, a great big THANK YOU! You are doing an incredible and an impressive job. I cannot begin to find words to thank you sufficiently. I unlearned many bad habits that will improve my piloting and many years of enjoyment.
For those who haven't taken the time to check out the Flight Academy, I would urge you to avail yourself. The experience of having a copilot fly with you to teach, observe and experience what you are doing is truly the ultimate. The Flight Academy takes us up many notches in service.
For the critics, you no longer have the need to hang around to see if the Prez can nail the approach and landing, but I see my long time critic and friend Keech does not disappoint me. He set the performance bar higher.

DK better watch out, the Prez was seen doing touch and goes at Winder International (KWDR) last night and even did some "planned" missed approaches to show off to the local sheriff who came out to the airport at 1 am to find out who was flying a B 777 onto a 5500 x 100 ft runway. The sheriff was told by the pilot that he just graduated from the DFA Flight Academy and he was practicing for the commercial course section, short field landings/takeoffs. And with the "short" runway, he had to be on top of his "game" to pull it off. The sheriff handed him a bill for 17 broken windows and asked that he go "practice" somewhere else next time. The pilot was last seen on ATL radar tracking outbound on the 308 Radial from the ATL VOR to shoot the full NDB Rwy 8 approach into KFTY (he learned this in the PPL course), mumbling such phrases as "kool beans", cheat death again, greaser landings, etc(he learned these also in the PPL)
