Hey guys I have this realluy annoying problem. Whenever I run an installer, i get the BSOD saying "kernal inpage stack error"
sometimes it happens when im on FS. It's really annoying. I googled it and found that it might be a harddrive issue. My HD is brand new, i just built the computer, could it be faulty? Also its a 200GB drive but only shows 137GB why? SPECS below
Intel Core2Duo E6600
Nvidia 7950GTO Superklocked Vid card
2GB ram
200GB Western Digital SATA 3gb/s HDD

You could have connected the hd wrong. Open the case up again and check the connections inside. Make sure you haven't set the HD to be a slave drive.

Unfortunately, there is never a single solution for fixing a BSOD. A quick search on some of the tech forums shows that others that have had a similar problem seem to believe it to be a disk problem It is suggested to run chkdsk and/or any disk diagnostics that may have come with the drive. As far as why you only see 137gb, I'm a bit confused. With older computers, there was a disk drive size limitation (137gb) . I did a search and found this quote as an explanation:
"Without getting too technical, the older OS?s and motherboards used an old 28-bit addressing system that had a limitation of 137GB addressing capability. The newer OS?s and BIOS raise this to 48-bit addressing capability, thus increasing the ceiling to 144 Petabytes. That is one huge amount of bytes!"
and it came from this posting from several years ago http://www.epinions.com/content_146899504772
This doesn't explain your issue unless you are still running an older OS

This one's in the Microsoft knowledgebase. That should give you some sort of hint as to what's causing the problem, it goes into more detail to explain the information on the blue screen. (Just "kernel inpage stack error" isn't enough info).

Good luck.

well for the O/S, I am running Windows XP HoME, so I dont understand that, the microsoft link that Lloyd gave me says that the article does not apply to windows xp but only for 2000 and server editions. It also says it could be a paging file issue? I have it set to windows selects my page file, so im really confused but im gonna try some tech forums, thanks guys
Happy Landings
