I have had this computer since December 26, 2005. Shes given me alot of great service with no problems. But now ive noticed she making alot noise. I opened the side cover to pinpoint the noise and found out its the CPU cooling fan. Has anyone had this happen to them?. Ive tried to ignore it but now i ned to put on music to drown out the sound of my computer. I would appreciate some advice to cure this so i can hava a quiet comp again. I know one way and that would be to buy a new comp but i dont have the nessary funds to do that so thats not a likely senario.

The bearings in the fan are probably wearing out. Good news is replacement fans/heat sinks are very cheap. Simply buy a new one & replace it, problem solved.

The fan moves faster as the CPU gets hotter. So the problem could be that you need to clean the dust off your CPU and the rest of the computer.
If you have no clue how to do this, I recommend you getting someone who knows to do it for ya...
...and yes, some of you should remember how I screwed up the thermal paste in my heatsink tryin to clean the PC myself, it was funny... ROFL

Sounds more to me like the cpu fan is simply spinning faster as you have built up dust inside the heatsink as was said earlier.
You do NOT have to remove the heatsink to clear it out, get yourself a can of "spray air" and using short blasts just blow that crap out of there, assuredly no need to pay someome to do that for ya. Personally I have never had "cpu cooling fan bearing failure" in all my years of dealing with PC's, had some just flat quit but never "bearing noise". These things are just little tiny electric motors, how much "bearing noise" could you get out of one? It's not like it's a hub bearing on an 89 Plymouth or anything.

I have...my last PC side cooling fan bearings had went out...rest assure all the dust was removed and it still made the most racket out of the computer at any speed. When mines went out trust me it made a serious amount of noise that I could hear 2 rooms down with the T.V. on.

My fans are loud too. I changed a setting that slowed them down and did not affect cpu temps as far as i know.
