The Flight Academy has officially opened the Commercial course today.
The course teaches primary manuevers and traffic pattern work at commercial pilot standards, single engine operations, night flying, weather procedures, flight planning and navigation (using outbound VOR, intersections, airways, SIDS/STARS), online flying, ATC communications at commercial standards and transition to the CRJ-200.
The first half the course of the course is in the EMB-120, where we tighten up your flying skills and progress to more difficult areas of flying. After we wrap those up, you get signed off on the EMB-120 and it's off to the CRJ-200, which is a hot little pocket rocket. We'll progress through the CRJ-200, flying it to the same levels of proficiency as the EMB-120.
The manual is 150+ pages and there is an exam and of course, a final checkride with the examiner in the CRJ-200.
When you complete the Commercial course, you'll get a nice little "COMM" that shows up in the cooler - you can see an example of it under my name to the left here. Pilots graduating the Commercial course will lack only the IFR to make them the complete flier - we'll be adding an IFR course soon. After that, we'll offer International Flying and we are leaning towards an intensive online flying course.
Enjoy and remember - if you aren't a PPL graduate, you can't enroll in the Commercial course. There is an updated EMB-120 checklist and a new CRJ checklist. A new CRJ update to the fleet installer will probably occur within a week or so - well before anyone will be transferring to it in the course.
If you have any questions, fire away!

Any chance those of us that aren't in the course can get the commercial manual? I'd understand if you don't want to give that out, I just enjoyed reading the PPL manual, and was hoping to read the commercial one as well.

Mike, the commercial manual is only available to those in the course. Join in and get your PPL first and then join the commercial program. Manuals are great bedtime reading! The excitement, the intrigue, the suspense..... ZZZZZZZZZZ!

I'd join if I had the time to do it. But I don't, so that's that. Thanks for the quick reply Jim.

Sorry Mike, I went to reply earlier but the server was down for a minute. I just realized I forgot to "re-reply".
The benefit of joining the Flight Academy is to have access to the training material. If you are in the PPL or have completed the course, you will have access to PPL course material. Same for the Commercial course, upcoming IFR course, etc.

George, sorry if I came across the wrong way. I would like to join the academy as it seems like I would learn a ton and enjoy myself while doing it. My problem is, I just don't have time and when I do have time, my schedule can change at any moment due to work. Makes it very hard to schedule something with someone.
Hope this makes more sense.
