Hi everyone...
I need your advice on the following. First...I have a 3.4 Ghz, dual core, Intel P945 with 2GB of RAM, NVIDIA GE7800 512MB and 250 GB of Hard Drive.
Im having low frame rate issues (I think too low). ((I do fly with quite some add ons and most of my settings set to max, exept antialiasing.)) Last flight I did was arriving in EHAM using Cloud9 scenery, flying the VC of PMDG 747, using ASky for weatherand SB3 for online flying. On my approach, I had to quit SB3 because I was getting 4-6 FPS. On the gate, with SB2 running, I had no more than 7FPS and with no SB3, it only went up to 9-10 FPS. (I have them locked at 27FPS)
I tried playing with my system settings in FS but once parked at the gate, lowering some settings only gave my 1/2 to 1 FPS more.
My NVIDIA settings are Image Quality set to Performance, Antialiasing to 4x and anisotropic filtering to 4x. (which I guess is quite set for performance). Screen refresh rate to 75Htz and resolution 1280*1024
When I fly, I use FSAUTOSTART to quit most of my unused programs and I execute DVA ACARS and FSscreen.
Well, thats all the tech info I can remember....
ANY ADVICE?

There's a few things you can try.
Is your hard drive going nuts? Give it a defrag, and I'm not talking Windows defrag, I'm talking industrial strength UltimateDefrag or O&O Defrag. (Ultimate Defrag would be better as you can tell it to put Flight Simulator and your scenery on the outer tracks of your hard drive, making read access a LOT faster) I'd say this is probably the problem.
Whilst you're flying, if you need just a few extra frames per second, press Q. (Mute Flight Sim sound) - This usually gives you another 5 frames per second. I usually use this trick if I'm on final and Flight Sim decides it's going to give me less than 15 frames per second. Low frames on final is bad bad bad.
Fly in the 2D panel rather than the VC. You should get more frames. The VC is constructed of polygons, making your graphics card work harder than it has to.
Use Flight Sim's Jeppessen weather rather than ActiveSky. ActiveSky slows down Flight Simulator significantly when updating the weather. (Alternatively, tell it to not update the weather when below 10,000 ft).
Card settings 4x antialiasing and 4x anistropic filtering is still going to give you a frame hit. Put them down to 2x instead.
Anyway, those should give you a few more frames. Other people will have other cool tweaks for you, but those are some simple things to try. Good luck.

whoa... you have got to have major issues with spyware, trojans and possibly a small virus, i would get a scan quickly, it can spread fast. this happened to me before, also make sure your vid card drivers are up to date and get the latest Direct X version (February update). Good lUck

Well. Ive downloaded most current NVIDIA Drivers...downloaded Ultimate Defrag (which Im performing as we speak moving all FS folder to the outer part of the disk and leaving all the rest in the inner circle). Ill try decreasing AF and AT to 2X (Or 2XQ which I think I have.
On the sound and VC, Lloyd, your asking too much lol
This is so far.....
Or I could just un-install Cloud9
Tom, I have NOD32 on my system and as of the last scan, it hasnt detected any viruses....(Although I dont trust very much antiviruses)
Thanks for you tips and if you think of anything else please let me now....(or others that might be having same issues)..
Always Cheers...

Yeah, it seems to be a general consensus that Cloud9's scenery is a major frame eater. I really hope that defrag works for you. (Also, NOD32 is a major resource eater - if you feel comfortable, turn off autoscan whilst using Flight Sim). NOD32 reads every file for viruses when it is opened, so that means it's reading every texture, every model, everything when it's being loaded whilst you fly. Give it a try, it might just be NOD32 being stupid.
