Windows keeps popping up saying that "WARNING: Your computer is infected" with spyware. I did a full spyware scan and it keeps turning up nothing. I'm up-to-date with my anti-spy/virus software. When I click the warning, windows wants me to download some drive cleaner thing which I must buy. How do I stop this annoying warning? It keeps interrupting me when I'm on FS9.

Are you surfing the web while flying? If so, there are plenty of ad popups that look like windows alerts. If you click on them (I don't suggest it), it will take you to some anti-spyware product.

No, Even when I'm not connected online it pops up. The warning pops up from the windows icon next to the system clock on the lower right corner.

The warning is the SPYWARE. You have somehow downloaed this annoying piece of code and getting rid of it can be tough. It may also have hijacked your browser. I wonder if you tried to watch a video and it told you that you needed to download a codec to view it. Look through your hard drive and see if there are any new folders under program files that are new. You can manually delete them...also check for any unusual services running in taskmanager. If you do delete some files, I would also do a System Restore from last week some time. This crap gets it's hooks in your regestry and will continue to reinstall itself. DO NOT BUY THE SOFTWARE..ITS A SCAM

Does it give you the brand of the software? Any chance you can take a picture so we can see it?
Most of the time they aren't that hard to get rid of, just takes a little Google searching.

Alex, just do a Google search for the software. You'll see a ton of links with how to get rid of it. Obviously I can't tell you if they work or not, but you should be good if you follow the directions.

Alex, I had the same exact problem. The warning bubble IS the Spyware. all it does is tries to trick you into thinking you have a serious problem so that you will buy one of their bogus anti-virus programs. I just ignored mine for about a month and it just went away..lol..

System Restore is what I recommend. The point of the spyware or adware is to make you buy a product most of the time. It may become impossible to remove it unless you format the hard drive or use system restore.

The irony of this is that the anti-spyware software company is trying to lure you into buying their stuff by...INFECTING YOU WITH THEIR OWN SPYWARE.
Some people need caustic lime enemas.

Yep, I think they have it set to stop after a certain period of time (in other words they gave up). probably is a good idea to keep doing the scans though. you just never know what else there might be hiding in there.

There's a new spate of infections out there that take over your Internet Explorer and route you to a page called SPYLOCK.COM. My son's computer was just infected with it a few days ago and it's a bear to remove. I finally got rid of it today with a freeware removal tool that was recently put out on the internet.

Do a Google search using SPYLOCK REMOVAL as the search terms. There are a few tools out there. This Spylock thing is a variation on the SmitFraud spyware that came out a while ago. The tool I used was called SmitFraudFix by someone called S!ri. It seemed to do the trick - at least it was better than HiJackThis! which I normally use for Spyware.

Do yourself a big favor and run something like SpyBot Search and Destroy or Ad-Aware as well. Both are excellent at finding and removing adware and most spyware. Some malicious spyware requires a good anti-virus (I use AGV Free and it works wonders) or dedicated removal tools. One thing you'll find is that removing that crap can make your system run far more efficiently.

I use Spy Bot Search and Destroy and it's an amazing and effctive program. As for the apyware in question, WinAntiVirus Pro, before I had Spybot S&D I just did a system restore to the day before the pop up started and it went away, so if you some how get it again, I recomend a system restore.
