I recently added a second monitor to my current rig, and have had no problem with it till I tried to play FS9.
On a flight from TNCM-KATL in a PMDG 744, and FSPAX being run in a Windows mode on my primary monitor
with
ASV6.5, ACARS (build 84), FSSCREEN running on my secondary monitor
I had my first hard freeze on take-off, for which I just reloaded everything and started from scratch. After second time about 20 minutes into flight, things start getting a little haywire. Suck as the menu bar on the top had disappeared (IN WINDOWS MODE). There were panel overlaps occuring whenever I brought up the FSPAX blue status window. Then the sound would high pitch squeal between swapping views from external to 2D. Ultimately ACARS hard shutsdown without an error code follow shortly there after a hard freeze of FS9. No big deal, I reload FS9, and ACARS attempt a recovery and it works, until about another 40 minutes later, we run into another one again... So I go back and forth for about 5 hours on a 3.5 hour flight trying to nurse the 744 into ATL.
I figured that the old version of ACARS was a problem, so I downloaded the new version, installed it, and set out for a quick hop from ATL-ORF. This time I used the LDS767, FSPAX
with my secondary monitor showing everything else. At first, while boarding, I couldn't play the music, not a big deal and boarded without it. Taxi out was fine and so was takeoff then bang out of no where ACARS goes, FS9 followed by AS. I attempt to reload several time and once again nurse the flight into ORF just prior to another CTD immediately after parking.
In both instances both CTDs were preceeded by ACARS crashing. I have not received any warnings of memory running low and my processor was only at about 50% USAGE at any one point. My CPU never got about 47C for temperature, and received no warnings from my GPU it was overtaxed.
So now I turn to the experts at DVA... Am I doing something wrong with this set up? Do I have to install and programs to run multiple monitors?
or
Is this a typical problem with Dual Monitor setup and I should just grow accustom to mental anguish such as this.
Thanks for the help fellass

I run the same setup you except for FS Pax. I don't use it. I use AS6, ACARS (nerw build) and secondary panels and other apps on the second monitor and have never had a crash in over 200 flights. It's not ACARS. I would guess it has some thing to do with vid drivers or FSPAX

My money would be on the video drivers. What cards do you have, and what driver revision?
Cheers!

Chris - I run dual monitors just fine and have been for some time.. as others have suggested please state your system specs including video card type and drivers.
I am familiar with nvidia drivers so i will point you in the right direction there. Make sure you select in display options that you are running in dual view, not span view. That was a problem for me at the begining.

EVGA GeForce 7800 GS 256MB DDR3

Just downloaded the 93.71 Forceware from Nvidia. So hopefully that does the trick.

I second Luke's response. I also run 2 monitors with an NVIDIA G force card. I usually place the radio, FMC, FSP, SERVINFO, and ACARS on the second monitor. Only problem I have is with FSX, it drops to its knees if I try to place a new view on the second monitor.

Well, I think my issue may be memory related of some kind.
I flew a short KORF - KBOS flight on a ERJ170. I had ACARS, ASV6.5 on my secondary window. The aircraft was in a turn, I switched up to my VC, which was looking over the left wing, and then I had the critical stop sound followed by ACARS crashing. When I went back to 2D cockpit I noticed, in windows mode, that the upper menu bar (where the FILE EDIT VIEW etc) was now gone. This has happened on all the flights when FS9 is about to crash. Before it crashed hard on me, I just exited the SIM, and did an ACARS restart. It worked right, and then I finished the flight.
Also, occasionally when I switch views it takes a few seconds for whatever will be displayed to display ont he screen, prolly bout 1-2 seconds lag, followed by a slight feedback sound on my speakers. The lag doesn't bother me as much because it is normal, but the feedback in the sound is something new to me..
So again, I do not know what is going on. I do know that I have never had these problems prior to trying Dual Monitors. Anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: I didn't adjust any of my display settings, i.e. Anti-Aliasing, Scenery Densities...... Did any of you have to adjust your display settings to get it to work?

Chris.. i dont think it is a memory issue.
I too have had this problem and know of no fix for it. Does this sound familiar? ... you often switch views by pressing 's' and constantly cycle from 2d - virtual - spot - tower ?
Doing this in windowed mode too often leads to problems for me. In fact after several cycles it causes visual probs with the menu bar and the next time I try and use it, the game quits.
