Hi there folks,
I was wondering if we have any cargo flights here at DVA? I think the real Delta does, but I'm not sure...I havent seen any Delta planes in Delta Cargo livery, but I was just curious.
Thanks

Delta flew cargo back in the 70s with the civilian version of the C-130 but they were discontinued years ago.

Members of the SkyTeam AirFrance, KLM and Korean Air fly cargo flights if you want to do some...
(and I think Northwest also does)
Cheers..

Ya, Northwest for sure does, we should consider putting some codeshares on the list...

If you're a cargo pilot for an airline that flies cargo and pax are you required to strictly fly cargo flights or can you fly cargo and pax flights?

Good question...I'd think only cargo, but maybe you could get away with a pax flight, it probably just depends on the airlines personal policy.

DAL carries huge amounts of cargo in the belly of their planes.
E.g. The cargo requirements out of EGKK (Gatwick, UK) to the USA are so great that even though there are 4 flights to the USA a day DAL still has to pay other carriers to fly their cargo contracts out of here.

I think this depends on you're type ratings, and besides most major cariers (KLM by example) have their own cargo divisions wich are sort of independent.

In the past, Delta operated the Curtiss C-46 and Lockheed L-100 (the civilian version of the C-130) on cargo only routes. I've not seen in any of my timetables that DAL operated jet cargo exclusively, although the initial 747-100 timetable did give a freight schedule that coincided with the passenger flight times. I made an L-100 timetable, but a suitable aircraft was never procured. If anyone would like to do an L-100 repaint, let me know and I'll get you pictures of the aircraft.

Delta still has a cargo division called Delta Air Logistics or Delta Air cargo I believe.

Paul is correct. But the Air Logistics and Cargo does not operate a separate fleet like other companies such as Northwest. Any cargo contracted out by these firms goes onboard DAL mainline flights across the globe.
