Hi all
I am getting up to 40fps in the air and 12/20 fps on the ground. I have my FPS set to unlimited !! If you want to know more, I found this site and got the recommended settings direct from my video card manufacturer. Once installed, I saved and I reload everytime I open FSX.
My system has only a 2.8 gHTZ Intel IV but I have 2 GB and NEW 700watt power supply. My Video Card is a Nvidia 7600GT
If you don't understand the effect of all the FSX settings, this site is for you

Do you have a direct link that covers how to optimize the settings?

Chris:
This is a spreadsheet from Nvidia for FSX settings on a wide variety of their cards
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_ttpop_fsx.html
Hope this helps as much as it did me. Now if your video card is from a different manufacturer, then simply do some reading and maybe post a query for your card om the website in my first posting.

Another tip from Nvidia
Try This
Using in-game AF (anisotropic filtering) is always better than forcing AF in Driver Control Panel. It's always faster and gives virtually the same image quality, because game developers know exactly which surfaces need anisotropic filtering and which don't. It allows the GPU to save the precious resources and achieve better gameplay. Use in-game AF in Microsoft's Flight Simulator X to achieve better image quality.

Re: the NZone recommendations...
Heh, even with the 8800, they recommend NO road traffic.
