Lately I've had problems with my rudder, in FS and other games. I don't have much control of my Z-axis.
In FS, the aircraft will always steer to the right during taxi, for example. I ran the configuration utility and the rudder indicator (yellow in the screenshot) moves halfway to the right and goes back to the center, and does the same thing over and over again without control and without me touching the joystick.
Also, this joystick works with some kind of sensor, when you place your hand in the stick the forcefeedback system activates. Well that doesn't happen on mine, the force feedback is always active, I'm pretty sure it's got to do with the sensor but I'm not sure, anyone has this same problem?
Anyone know of any solution for these problems or have had them?

I use the same stick. 1. Take a Q-tip soaked in alcohol and clean the electric "eyes" on the forward part of the stick (2 of them), secondly after doing that, recalibrate the stick and see if the problem is gone.

Uninstall the drivers, restart your computer then reinstall the drivers, That should get things going again.
Right click MY COMPUTER icon then hit PROPERTIES then hit ADVANCED then HARDWARE then DEVICE MANAGER then click on the Joystick driver remove then reinstall !!!
good luck

Yes but if his stick is staying "on" even without his hand on the flightstick then one of the eyes are clogged with debris and need to be cleaned.

Thanks for the input.
Chuck, unfortunately that didn't work out, the joystick is still "on" at all times. Manuel I will try reinstalling the drivers as soon as I find the installation CD LOL.
It's a shame if it doesn't work, this is one of the best pieces of hardware I've bought. I got it back in 2002 and still works just fine, didn't give me a single problem in 5 years, good job microsoft!

my sidewinder recently broke as well and it was also one of the best pieces of hardware i have used.
i ended up going to bestbuy and getting a logitech 3d joystick.. i made sure to get a 5 warranty so i can bring it back when it breaks.

Thanks Tom, don't worry I don't need the photo. I'd love a CH Yoke, but I can't even afford a video card right now, but hey FS is flyable, that's all me needs

Eugenio, I have an older Sidewinder that the power supply is burnt out of, I'd be happy to ship it to you if you pay the shipping and you could probably pull a motor or wiring harness out of it to fix yours if you want.
I'm on my second Sidewinder since FS98 and they both have been drug around the house by their cords by my kids when they were younger. The durablility of these things is incredible and they can be fixed when broken.
I'd love a CH yoke as well but not having forcefeedback would take some getting used to.......if only CH would design a FF yoke! They'd make millions.
