ok when I open a airplane that I got from anywhere DVA, AVSIM, etc. all freeware. It says that the panel was designed for FS98 or lower and the when the plane loads you can see the plane fine but when you goto cockpit mode the is no cockpit.

Which specific DVA airplanes? You're running into the fact that MS chopped the freeware developers off at the knees by deprecating all sorts of freeware gauges. I'm sure it'll boost PMDG's sales, though.
Cheers!

Any gauge that was created for FS98 will not work in FSX. Period. The DVA fleet has some aircraft with panels that work pretty well. They are the CRJ-200 and-900 which uses the default CRJ-700 panel. The 737NG which uses the default 737-800 2d panel. The 757 and 767 which have FS2002/2004 panels that work in FSX. There are still very few FSX original aircraft designs in the freeware sites, but they are popping up. There is also an FS92FSX converter out that will place your FS9 aircraft, panels and gauges in all the right places. Be aware that if you use this program - If there are any FS98 gauges in the Panel, the whole panel may not work and/or the whole aircraft may not load.

If you are in panel view try hitting the "A" button to switch to the 2d panel view. If the plane does not have a Virtual Cockpit it is just a big window of the outdoor scenery. I did this too and when I hit the "A" it cycles through the various views available for that view point. If you are in the external view you can hit "A" to cycle those views. I hope this is what you are talking about.
