The GeForce 7300 is low-end and is gonna hold you back, so no, FSX won't run OK.
2GB RAM is pretty good, just get a GeForce 8600GT or GTS... 256MB should do.

I'd focus less on the memory size, and more on the speed of the GPU. How's the 8800GTS fit into your budget?
Cheers!

Aquí andamos pa ayudar no se preocupe
Check that your motherboard has a PCI-Express port, and that your power supply has enough wattage to support the card (needed Watts come with the video card's specs).
256MB should do fine. I'm not familiar with FSX so I can't really tell if 256 or 512 is best... sorry.

Thank you Eugenio, Charly, Luke

your specs are fine, the only thing that needs to change is the video card. I run fsx with core 2 duo overclocked to 2.6, so Its fine there. My video card though is a lousy 512mb nvidia 6800 XT. But everything still runs pretty good with medium/low settings. With an nvidia 5500, i dont think you'll be able to run it well.

"Overclocking is the process of forcing a computer component to run at a higher clock rate than it was designed for or was designated by the manufacturer."
The above just dosen't sound like a good idea IMO.

to dig on the first post - I have GForce 7300 LE and I average about 40 FPS on high settings - i go down to about 20-25 at KATL or KBOS. If I max everything out - I drop to about 30 at normal airfields, countryside - and about 12-18 in big hubs.

Glad we could help
