I'm looking for a good solid closest to real life control system for my PC. Anyone have a suggestion or have experience with the Saitek hardware?

I used a Saitek set up for quite some time before purchasing my current controllers. They build very good products at tpyically a great price.

I am seriously contemplating buying those new saitek rudder pedals and that yoke. Looks very promising, but I want to read some reviews first.

I have the yoke pre ordered( They keep moving the release date) I have received the extra throttle though. I haven't hooked it up, but visually, and functionality are SWEET!. The throttles have resistance in them so they move smoothly. It mounts a couple of different ways (which is great for my desk). I will hook the throttles up as soon as the yoke gets here, and I will give my input. Keep in mind, I am entertained by small shiny objects so the review might be weird lol

I'll be buying this yoke & throttle for sure. I love the clock feature right on the yoke.
I've had my CH yoke forever. It has been great, but I'd like a change. This product seems to fit the bill.

hope the yoke and throttles work the same

I ordered from the same place Richie. We'll have to compare notes and experience when we receive them. I didn't order the pedals because gogamer was out of stock but I'll probably pick them up as well. A three monitor sync device would be nice as well but not sure I want to buy three 22" monitors to match the one I already have. I'd be sleeping in the hanger with the dog.

I pulled the trigger as well. Got the yoke and throttle quadrant especially after I read that the throttle caps come interchangable. Thus you can take off the the blue cap and add another black for two engines. I can then use the other for the spoiler or fly the 727 with yet another black cap to make it a three engine bird. Since I will be giving up my twist joystick for rudder input, I bought the pedals too. Now, to hide the receipt from my wife

Don't know yet Joe...still waiting on the delivery. However, the one thing that I do like about the Saitek system over the CH system is the availability of buttons for different things. The CH doesn't have many options for this. Will let you know what I think when the system arrives.

yep Christopher
plus I understand the CH contols have to be setup using a special program ??? something about it I can't remember
the saitek can be assigned in FS9 as I have setup my x52
the software profiler is interesting enough...
I guess I like the "giter done" approach . Click and go

Oh man, that's tempting. I have an ancient Saitek X36 stick/throttle combo and CH Pro Pedals. The X36 is over five years old, has survived hundreds of flights, three moves, a few drops, and baby abuse, and still works as good as the day I got it. I am a big, big Saitek fan. I wish I had the money to pick one of these up, as I'd like to switch from a joystick setup to a yoke.

Well so far it took me about 1 hour to calibrate the throttles using FSUIPC. Everything is very nice and the smoothness of motion is outstanding. The only problem I have right now is assigning the reverser's. The throttles have 2 positions. When I get to where the detent and then push the throttles to the reverse position, it won't work yet. The issue is the reverser's are a separate axis. I need to figure out how to assign them.

Richie, which are you using for the throttle; left or right lever? The reason I ask is in trying to assign the left side lever it will not give me less than 51% thrust at idle position. The right lever will get down to as low as 21%. Strange problem. I calibrated it and that did not help.

I have an extra throttle. I have them set up , left to right, Lever#1 as the spoilers, #2 as throttle 1, #3 as throttle 2, #4 as throttle 3, #5 as throttle 4, #6 as flaps. I just have to get the reverse thrusters assigned. I put a thread in at their forum. I was able to calibrate them all through FSUIPC.
BTW, I am doing a flight with them now. I like these better than CH so far. Much smoother controls and the yoke shaft is metal, not plastic like CH so it doesnt have any slight sticking like CH.

Regardless of what the manufacturer states, FSUIPC by Peter Townsend is the best utility for calibrating flight controls for FS. A registered copy for $20 bucks will open doors you never knew existed.

OK. I have it all figured out. I have it all set , thanks to FSUIPC. These 2 items (Yoke and Throttle Quadrant) are sweet. So much so that i am ordering the Pedals. On a side note, my CH Yoke, Throttle Quadrant and pedals are for sale. EMail me with an offer. they are 2 years old.

Hey guys,
Does the Saitek yoke have the same tight spring as the CH yoke with a hard lock in the middle? Or, is it smooth with a detent in the middle? Thanks.

Its very smooth Arnie. It has a smooth resistance. It also has a metal shaft that doesn't have the sticking issue like CH. The shaft also doesn't stick out the back. It has a center spot for both ailerons and elevators. I highly recommend it.

Thanks Richie. Sound like a step up from the CH stuff. About time there is some reasonably priced competition.

Mine arrives today and can't wait until I get home from work. I've heard nothing but good things about this from the half dozen or so folks I know who bought it.
Here is the next new toy coming from Saitek:
http://gear.ign.com/articles/807/807903p1.html
Also, Michael Carter: I fully agree, FSUIPC is probably the best $20 you'll ever spend for an FS addon. However, it's written by Peter Dowson, not Peter Townsend.

I wonder, how easily reconfigurable is the throttle unit? Like, say I'm flying my 727 using the three levers for the three engine throttles, and then I want to fly a piston single and change them around to throttle/prop/mixture. Is that reconfigurable in the Saitek software or in FSUIPC with some sort of saveable "set" so I wouldn't have to dig through FS2004 and reassign control axes every single time I switched planes?

For those of you who took the plunge and purchased this, how long did it take for you to receive it? I ordered it on 9/18 and I have only received the pedals to date.

It took about 10 days for me to receive my yoke and throttle quadrant set.
I have been using the Saitek setup for about two weeks now. I have the yoke, throttle quadrant and pedals and all work very well and are extremely well built. I'm more than pleased with this purchase. Next is the Matrox triplehead2go monitor splitter and two more 22" monitors. My wife "asked" me to sell some of my radio control planes to fund this addiction. I have multiple forms of virtual flight. Too bad R/C can't link into VATSIM.

I got my yoke from gogamer.com and pedals from crazypc.com. Gogamer.com does state that they will not be available until Nov 2, 2007. Must be a hot item... bummer.

this may sound like a kind of dumb question, but does the yoke include the throttles? In the picture I looked at in the FSPilot shot website it shows the throttles kind of cut off, so I was just wandering...

cool, thanks.
Im planning on asking for this set up for christmas, the yoke, throttle, and pedals. Is it worth to get the second throttles to have the more realistic set up of the six levers in this order for a twin engine plane?
Spoilers/Left Revereser/Left Throttle lever/Right Throttle lever/right reverser/flaps?
Thanks...
