My wife , who has at last given up on trying to make me give up my passion for flying , and instead is trying to
look as if she supports it has offered to buy a FS addon for my next birthday and wants me to choose it , her budget is
only 60$ , she says and doesnt think an" imaginary airplane" should even cost that much.
I have heared so much about the PMDG 737 NG that its almost certainly going to be my choice, I have not bought
many Payware addons in my time , Is this worth getting ?? will it transfer my simming experience ,,as they say.
help

If you plan to stay in the 737, then I would say yes. If you want to move up, then I would probably get the LDS 767. The PSS 777 is also preety nice as well as the Aerosim Classic Liners II, Flight1 ATR, PSS 757, and the Carenado GA aircraft.

The 737NG is nice, but a little outdated by now.
The PMDG 747-400 is probably the best payware aircraft out there, in systems modeling and visuals (little expensive).
The LDS 767-300 is good too (NOT better than the PMDG747, but that's my opinion).
The PSS 757 is a nice rendition of the real aircraft. I don't like its visual model, but it's well-flyable.
The Dreamfleet 727 is my personal favourite, great flight dynamics, great visual model, great VC, and VERY fun to fly, cause it doesn't have an FMC or autothrottle that do everything for you. Grab those charts and handfly the thing (steep learning-curve though).
Software like Active Sky can greatly enhance your simming experience too! If you don't have AS yet, check it out, www.hifisim.com
Tell the wife you don't pay $60 for a plane, you pay $60 for a $1000000000 worth of real-world training! Very nice from her to give you an addon as a bday gift

How about a desktop model of a 737 better? I just ordered one on eBay recently, but it was a 757 one.

I agree with Derek, If you plan on stayin with the 737 the PMDG is a must. I bought the LDS when I recieved my 767 rating and I love it! Its my favorite plane to fly.. both have full FMC's and definitly worth buying.... IMO and yea ill agree with Eugenio that the PMDG 747 is the best payware out there..very realistic

My Birthday is comming up too, it's on Monday the 17th. I was thinking of extorsioning my folks, girlfriend and friends of combining resourses and buying me the new Saitek Yoke with 2 Throttles and the Saitek Pedals, which adds up to about $400, so instead of me getting 8-9 $50 gift cards for clothes, shoes, etc. I'll tell them gather the money and buy those things or just give it to me and I'll buy them myself. Ok I went a little bit off topic here. As Derek mentioned it depends on which Program you're planing to stay with. I also agree with David and his evaluation of some the best paywares around.
Take care

I've only flown PSS planes, as far as payware goes, although I'm fairly impressed by what i've heard about PMDG as well, so if you're staying in the 737 that would probably be a well-spent choice there.

I agree with Tom. It took me a while and at first it was frustrating but when you get things nailed, it's one of the best planes out there (my personal favorite).
