Has anyone encountered problems with DirectX 9.0c and the Lonny Payne panels in the Fleet Library?

I had a problem with the radios on that panel which is now fixed thanks to one of our 757 Captains. Look down about 14 or 15 posts for that solution. I don't know about DX9.0c as I haven't yet tried it. I still have 9.0b and I firmly believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm just thinking that your problem might just be the same problem I had and one small edit in the aircraft.cfg file might just be all you need.

I flew tonight Luke with DX9.0c and my trusty 764 from the installer. No problems on my end. Nvidia TI4600 worked flawlessly

I have yet to notice any difference between 9.0b and 9.0c, although nVidia did release new Forceware drivers to support it. Since it comes embedded in XP Service Pack 2, I would be inclined to think that it does not change much.

Well, it looks like my problems with the Payne panel were not related to DX9.0c, since I did a reinstall (4 hours format to starting FS9) and it still blows up.
I'm starting to think it might depend on something that was in my gauges folder before, but no longer. Well, I'm off to slowly build a panel and see when it starts blowing up.
Cheers!

I have been using Service Pack 2 for over a month now. Using the release version now, and the release candidates before then. I have not had any problems whatsoever out of it. Its primary focus is security, so I doubt it would raise many compatibility issues (if any). It does bring in DX9.0c, Media Player9, and a host of new features to IE though. You may want to wait until it is available on Auto Update though (if not already), since the network install download is rather large (266mb).

Yeah, it's definitely not DirectX; it looks to be that the overhead and throttle windows on the panel must be open and visible when the panel is loaded, otherwise kaboom.
Cheers!

I think that's the default, Luke, every time I've loaded a 757 or 767 with Lonny's panel, the overhead and throttle quadrants are always open.
I have other issues with that panel--if I try to load the 757 from "Create a Flight" and start cold and dark, the hydraulics will drain all their fluid before I can get the pumps started. I emailed him about it and he said it's an FS2004 thing; the panel forces a hydraulic "failure" to lock the controls with the power off, and to FS2004, a hydraulic failure = drain all the fluid. I've always had to pick another aircraft (usually the default 172), start the engine on it, then load the 757 or 767 with the engines running, in order to get that panel to work right.

Well, I think you're lucky. I always get a running cockpit when I switch to the aircraft, unlike Fs2002.
Either way, I did the 762 with the payne panel on the sunday night flight, so hopefully I can get the fleet out soon. I've just had a pilot graciously offer to translate the fleet library to Arabic, so I'm going to learn more about internationalization, character set issues and RTL languages than I ever wanted to. Cool.
Cheers!

I think thats going to have to be done as a save flight type of deal. Unless there is some easier way! The PMDG has you pick just a Cessna, shut everything down but the avionics, and then switch to the plane you want and save it. Maybe there are come cfg files you could change somewhere. That would be awesome

Scott, I've never been able to start the 757/767 cold and dark in FS9, whereas in FS2002 it always seemed to do so. All of my aircraft seem to start up running in FS9, so if I'm going to be at the gate for a while I shut them all down to save gas anyways.
For what it's worth everyone, the problem is fixed for the new Fleet Installers. If you are having problems in the current version, go into the panel.cfg for the PANEL, not the aircraft, and go through it. Ensure that the windows for the throttles, FMC, simpanel and overhead all have "visible=1", not "visible=0". That might do the trick.
Cheers!

I must have lucked out because I have been able to start up the 757/767 cold and dark every time. I did use the save option to save a default Delta start up scenario, but have never had a problem. The trick I found was to have all of the panel areas visible as it is when it loads up regularly. I shut down all of the systems and switches, re-opened all of the panels (FMC, overhead, etc.) and save the flight. Give it a try. Good luck!

i am in 2002 and it seems that once apon a time it did start up cold and dark but for some reason it is running at the gate when it loads now. I thought there would be a setting to shut it down but can not find one. If anyone else knows let me know how to do it.
