I have a EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS video card and a new power source which puts out more than enough juice. Also an AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 5000+ processor. That should be more than enough to put out some amazing graphics in FS9 and do a respectable job in FSX. However, I still see jaggies in several places, including the 2D panel. I have the AA turned on and bi-liniar or tri-liniar filtering turned on. But it seems that the card could do more. I set the card to 16x AA and to override program settings, but I'm not sure it's working. I'm running the system on Vista. Any ideas?
Thanks.

If your using the cards AA and Filtering options, make sure your not using them in FS, also make sure you have the latest drivers for that card.

What Anthony said.
And 2D panels are only BMP images (photos), so AA doesn't have effect on them, jaggies are normal in 2D.

i too bought a new EVGA Nvidia Gforce 8600 GT 256MB PCI-E card. I have set AA to 16X and AF to 16XQ And are using the latest drivers but still are seeing the jaggies on the exterior view. i unticked the AA option in FS but no luck. Can some one help figure out how to remedy this. the card runs great on other games a big improvement from my ATI X1600 512MB card.

If memory serves me correctly, the nVidia 8800 cards and drivers do NOT use AA/AF when running FS in windowed mode; you must hit ALT-ENTER to get into fullscreen mode for AA. This is an FS9/8xxx limitation; windowed anti-aliasing works just fine in FSX.
Cheers!

your video card AA settings wont work in FS unless you have Anti-Aliasing selected (in FS).
nhancer works well. it is just a tool to manage your card settings for all your games that is a bit more intuitive and easy to use than the default nVidia desktop manager.

Yes, Art, I have used this fix and it's the only thing that worked for me. The whole problem with the AA is that the nVidia control panel (at least the newer versions) has default profiles for FS9 & FSX which are set to enhance the FS AA, instead of overriding it. nHancer allows you to change this setting (actually, you need to delete the default profiles and create new ones).

I'm using 163.71. Did you try nHancer? I haven't had any problems since I figured out the AA problem, the card runs great.

The anti-aliasing issue is definitely a problem unique to the NVIDIA drivers. I had the very same AA problem with my 8800GTS 256mb card. In the end, I reverted all of the way back to the 97.95 drivers from Guru3d. Now I'm able to run in full screen and windowed mode with no AA display problems. I did experience some residual display problems particularly with Squawkbox when running maximized windowed. But, as a work-around, I run FS in a "slightly less than maximized" window (click the button between the "X" and the minimize "-", then stretch to the edges). The effect is the same as running maximized, but I don't get the problems with Squawkbox.
At first, this card was very frustrating and made me wish that I too, had stuck with Radeon. But now, despite the quirks, I'm quite happy with how it runs FS.
Good luck,
TRB

Ok, I've been looking for that particular driver on Guru3d and can't find it. I did a search for "97.95" and had no results. Where can I find this driver for the video card?
Thanks!
