Well guys it's going to be a while for me to get back up and running. I ordered my replacement RAM from Dell on Saturday. It arrived yesterday and I installed it. No good. Call Dell and get jockeyed between 7 people before one of them realizes that they sent the wrong part. So they tell me that they'll overnight it to me tonight (Wednesday). Well I get no email saying that it shipped so I check the order status.... OUT OF STOCK. WILL NOT SHIP UNTIL DEC 1 2003. That's right, two weeks from now instead of two days. Unfreaking believeable. At last count, I've dealt with 13 Dell Qualified and Fully Trained and Certified Customer Care Professionals in the past 2 days. I'm extremely livid right now and I'm not sure what I'm going to have to do.

Did you know the guy that does the Dell commercials got arrested for drug posession or something along that line (that's why they changed their commercials)? But of course, what can you expect from somebody that is trying to sell pieces of scrap metal and silicon.

Matt,
Dell's RAM isn't proprietary. You migh try Crucial, that's where everybody pretty much gets their ram (manufacturers anyway). They have same day service and are good to work with. I use them for when I have to buy RAM. They're good. Give them a try!

Dell's and other computers like HP's, IBM's, are terrible computers for gaming, for non- rs they're alright. You can use them for gaming, expect garbage graphics though.
They're smart in their marking, just like all other companies are. They give you a top of the line processor, and a POS video card, and thats how they make money off of you.
Of course, everyone doesnt think that way though. I can pretty much guarantee you that if everyone who has a dell ( Or even HP, IBM, etc. name brands ) posted SS's of FS2004, they would not even compare to custom builts. With their proprietary parts they use ( Mobo's, etc. ) they spend very little to make the computer, and sell it for a ton more.
One guy i know has a HP computer. AMD Athlon 1.8ghz T-Bird. WOW! Well guess what, S3 Savage Pro integrated Graphics = Top of the line *POS*.
The only good companies that makes good gaming computers is Falcon Northwest, Alienware, and I think a few more, but they're very expensive.
Build it yourself you save tons of $$$ and dont deal with the morons at " Tech Support " at Dell or HP or any of those places, plus get what you want, plus get excellent quality, and guess what, 24/7 support from Yourself.

By the way Matt, if you want some good prices on ram you should check out www.newegg.com , they have some excellent service, i order parts from them all the time for the past 3 years. Free 3 day air shipping on like 80% of their items too!
