Ok, guys i'm not one to post something that's been posted already over and over, but a subject like this I think is uniqe to everyone.
So i'm willing to invest a coule $,$$$ into buying/building a new computer. I get real down when I see some people's screen shots and they say it's unedited. Not to mention some guys are runing tons of add-ons and their system is still running pretty well. I brought this up because I recently downloaded Tampa's freeware Boston, and also downloaded the MBJ scenery that's now in our cooler, and let me tell you, both of them look NOTHING like their screenshots! LOL.
So, if any of you computer savy guys want to help me out, please do. If you think you will be able to correspond with me via e-mail so that we can get something set up and you give me pointers on where to look, what to buy (stuff oyu use) that would be great.

Naw... the VIC 20 will run circles around the Tandy 64.
Seriously Andrew L (not to be confused with Andrew K, the man with a 1000 avatars)... what FS are you running or which one do you want to run? FS9 or FSX?

I currently run FS9 but I guess if I'm getting a powerful machine, I might as well upgrade to FSX (although i've heard some machines still can't handle FSX).

If you can afford it, get as much computer as you can designed specifically for gaming. Alienware makes a good game machine but you certainly pay for it. I would personally look for a Core 2 Quad processor, 4 GB RAM and the best video card you can afford in the 512 MB video RAM range. All video cards are not created equal so do some research on this.
The debate on whether to go Vista or stay with XP goes back and forth. You will be hard pressed to find a new PC that comes with XP but you can always ask.
I would be interested to know from others who else besides Alienware makes great gaming PCs.
Building your own PC if you know what you are doing may very well be the best bet. Visit http://www.anandtech.com/ for good information and reviews on the latest PC hardware.

If you want the best for your money, go for an Intell Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAMm (Mine, nor my good friends computer (which is a beast) has never used more than 1.5GB of RAM at one time running FS, Firefox, MSN etc...) and any 256, or 512MB video card. If you know how to build computers, go here: http://www.newegg.com/ If you don't know how or don't want to mess anything up, get a boxed one without a keyboard, monitor, or any of the other bell's and whistles, because you can get good ones (monitors, keyboards etc..) for cheap at that link that I just gave you. You need the money in the machine, not the monitor and other stuff that doesn't enhance your performance, stores will try to scam you that way. Hope this helps

Pay close attention to the motherboard you're going to get. You need to decide whether you want to go the SLI or the non-SLI route. Make sure the motherboard you choose has a proper layout design if you're going to use a top line video card (heat dissipation etc...)
I wouldn't go with any brand name computer (Alienware etc...). The overhead on the price is too much. You save $$$ and have much more freedom picking your own components doing it on your own.
