If your board has a true 16X slot 16 up 16 down, A Single 8800 card will do the trick. I would read up on the 2nd generation cards that just came out. Be sitting down when you start to price these cards.
You have to consider other variables in this as well, The CPU and the Memory all play into it, FSX as FS9, Is still and from the looks of it, will be CPU dependant and not GPU.
Now if you are going to run high resolutions, a SLI set up is deffinetly the way to goMy little ol GTX at a whopping 576mhz/900mhz respectively runs FSX nicely at a locked 20 frames, this was after a lot of reading and reduction of services running to help my measly E6850 C2D from bottleknecking out on me, coupled with 4 gigs of PC8500 4-4-4-4-2T.
